Top Times lists should be used only for good, never evil! It should be noted that every athlete matures physically, emotionally and psychologically at their own pace, and that determining "SUCCESS" based on a comparison to another athlete can be a dangerous and often detrimental long term developmental strategy. Coaches encourage both athletes and parents to use these lists as positive motivational tools for both themselves and for their teammates. By learning to focus on working hard at practice, physically and with mental focus, athletes can help both themselves and their teammates reach their goals.
On the lists below, parents and athletes may see where each athlete ranks in each event as compared to their teammates on the TOP TIMES BY AGE GROUP/EVENT list, and athletes may see their own seasonal results on the INDIVIDUAL TOP TIMES LIST.
Top 10 lists are set with the following parameters:
- TOP TEN lists are seasonal, from October 1, 2020 and forward only.
- Athletes' ages are based on their age at the date of their actual swim. Because an athlete's age for a specific meet is determined by his/her age on the first day of the meet, this is not necessarily the age group each athlete will swim at the end of season Championship meets.
- INDIVIDUAL TOP TIMES lists include times since January 1, 2019, which is the cutoff date for most of our 2020 Championship meets.
Lists were last updated on Wednesday, January 16.
Athletes can always check their official USA Swimming times & power points by using the national SWIMS database on the USA Swimming website. Make sure to enter the appropriate competition period or date range for a specific meet.
Results in the SWIMS database come from meets that are officially sanctioned, approved or observed by USA Swimming officials. Typically the MHSAA High School State Championships, MISCA Meet, and some conference meets are observed by USA Swimming officials (and therefore are in the SWIMS database). Michigan Swimming does allow any/all high school meet results to be used to qualify and enter the Michigan Junior Olympics, State Championships and Speedo Sectional meets. Please check with your coaches if you have questions about which results you can use for Championship qualifying.
