Short Course Season 2021-2022
(September 13, 2021 - March 26, 2022)
Thank-you for your interest in South Lyon Aquatics! Our Fall-Short Course (SC) season begins Monday, September 13th and runs through March 26th.
Placement into any SLA training group requires an evaluation
Our next Evaluations are scheduled for:

Tuesday - September 7 th - 6:30 pm - South Lyon High School
Thursday - September 9 th - 6:30 pm - South Lyon High School
High School Girls are asked to register during open enrollment and pay the registration fees with their monthly payments beginning on their return in November.
Pro-rated memberships available for HS Girl and HS Boy swimmers that will run either before or after the MHSAA Season, See Below for more details.
OUR TRAINING GROUPS
Developmental B Group (Beginner)
This group is for beginning swimmers primarily age 8 and under who can swim 1 length of the pool (25 yards) of freestyle and backstroke, both without stopping. The swimmer must be able to float, be comfortable in deep water and be able to swim freestyle without struggle.

Developmental A Group (Advanced)
This group is for beginning swimmers, primarily age 10 and under, who have the ability to swim Freestyle and Backstroke legally, and also have a concept of the Breaststroke and Butterfly.

Green Group
This group is for advanced beginning swimmers primarily aged 8-12. Swimmers should know Freestyle and Backstroke efficiently and also be legal in Breaststroke and Butterfly, but not yet able to put it all together. Technique will be heavily emphasized. Dryland will be incorporated into the weekly practices.

WB Group
This group is for transitional swimmers primarily aged 9-13. It may consist of intermediate younger swimmers, who need a challenging and productive atmosphere, and/or older age group swimmers that are looking for a “Non-competitive” structure. Swimmers should know all four strokes efficiently. Technique will be heavily emphasized. Advanced training skills will continue to be used and taught. Dryland will be incorporated into the weekly practices. Swimmers from this group will progress EITHER to the Competition Group, the SD3 or Senior groups when age appropriate.

Competition Group
This group is for intermediate level swimmers aged 9-14 who are not yet High School Freshman and have mastered the basics in both technique and training principles. Continued work on proper stroke technique, endurance, and personal goal setting are key aspects of this groups training. These swimmers are encouraged to reach the State and Zone levels with long range goals to reach Sectional and National levels. State Level 14 and under swimmers are generally in this group. Dryland will be incorporated into the weekly practices.

SD3- High School Development Group
This group is for High School swimmers looking to continue the building process formed during their high school season in a "Non-Competitive" structured environment. Technique, endurance, goal setting and racing strategies are all developed at this level. 14 and over 8th grade and High School JV level swimmers are generally in this group. Dryland will be incorporated into the weekly practices.

** Between Nov. 22 & Jan 28th M-Th practices will be taking place from 7-9 at EAST due to Middle School Swim. Practice on Friday will remain 5:30-7:30.
Senior Group
This group is for advanced swimmers. Technique, endurance, goal setting and racing strategies are all developed and refined at this level. These swimmers aspire to reach State, Zone, Sectional, National and International qualifications. These are serious athletes, and train up to six days per week up to three hours each practice. Daily dryland training will be incorporated into the practices. State level 13 and over swimmers and beyond are generally in this group.

Occasional changes to practice times and location may be needed due to High School and Middle School swim meets.

Practice times may also change due to pool space and size of groups. While we try to keep practice times as consistent as we can, there are times when they may fluctuate.
