The St. Cloud Y Masters Swim Team is a USA-registered workout group that competes in several masters meets throughout the season, as well as open water swims during the summer.  

Masters swimming is an organized swim program for adults 18 & older. Members vary in skill level from novice last swimmer to former division one athletes. Members participate in a variety of ways ranging from lap swimming to national competitions. Triathletes are welcome! 

Stroke Technique and conditioning are apart of every workout. Workouts are tailored to meet individual needs in a group workout environment.

Team Fees
Members: $24 per month.  
Non-Members: $44 per month.  
Per Session: $7 each visit.  

Fall Practice Schedule (Starting September 1)
Tuesday & Thursdays 5:45-7:00 am
Saturdays 6:15-7:45 am

Our Coach -- Mike Ritchie
The Y's master team is fortunate to be lead by Mike Ritchie. Mike grew up on a small island on the northeast coast of Florida, known as Fernandina Beach. He swam on the local AAU team and was on the inaugural High School Team. He then swam at the Florida HS state meet his junior and senior years of high school. Mike went to college at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he swam for a year and a half. He also swam and coached for several US Navy teams while in the service from 1976 - 1979.

He began coaching the summer after he graduated from high school when I took over the local AAU team in 1974. Mike coached the Stillwater USS swim team for 5 years from 1980 - 1985, was an assistant coach of the White Bear Lake HS from 1981 - 1985, he served as an assistant coach St Cloud Swim Club 1986 -1988. In 1987, Mike became the head coach at the College of St. Benedict where he stayed for 10 years. In Mike's tenure with the College of St. Benedict, his team became the first team to win the MIAC championship other than St. Olaf in 13 years in 1998. Mike also served as co-head coach at the College of St. Benedict from 2009-2012.

In his free time, Mike has enjoyed participating in several open water swim events over the past 40 years. Mike's better half is his wife Kay, and they have been happily married for 33 years. Mike is the father of 2 adult sons, and has 3 grandchildren.
