Silver 3

 

Riptide Silver 3  is the group for our best young age-group swimmers in their progression towards the Junior Teams. Silver 3 swimmers will continue to build the foundation for a solid technical competitive swimming background while developing interval training and endurance capabilities. There is a significant focus on technique for all four competitive strokes including starts, turns, underwaters and finishes. Practice is offered 6x/week for 1.75 hours including 15 minutes of dryland training and conditioning prior to pool time. The age range for this group is 9-12 years old. Swimmers are expected to commit to 3-5 practices/week. All swimmers are USA Swimming registered athletes and are required to participate in selected USA Swimming sanctioned Meets.

Equipment needed: Long blade fins, water bottle (no glass), kick board, pull buoy, training suits, goggles, cap and mesh bag. Riptide Team Gear. (Riptide suit, cap and team t-shirt)

 

Silver 2

The Riptide Silver 2 group swimmers will continue to build a strong swimming foundation on proper stroke mechanics. Practices are based on a nurturing, skill-driven and fun atmosphere. There is extensive focus on the competitive swimming components including strokes, starts, turns, underwaters and finishes. All four strokes are thoroughly addressed through stroke drills, basic interval training and beginning endurance work. Swimmers in this group must have a solid base in all four competitive strokes: Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. Practice is offered 3x/week for 90 minutes and includes 15-minutes of dryland training and conditioning prior to pool time. The age range for this group is 9-12 years old. All swimmers are USA Swimming registered athletes and are required to participate in select USA Swimming sanctioned Meets.

Equipment needed: Long blade fins, water bottle (no glass), kick board - short, pull buoy, training suits, goggles, cap and mesh bag. Riptide Team Gear. (Riptide suit, cap and team t-shirt)

 

Silver 1

Silver 1 is the first of the competitive age group training groups at Bluewater. All swimmers in this group must either have taken part in the Bronze 1/2 groups or have been recommended for participation following a swimmer assessment with a Riptide coach. Swimmers will continue to improve stroke techniques, starts and turns . Silver 1 swimmers participate in 3x/weekly, 75-minute practices which include 10-15 minutes of dryland conditioning training prior to pool time. All practices are held at Bluewater. The age range for this group is 9-12 years old. All Silver 1 swimmers are USA Swimming registered athletes and are encouraged to participate in selected USA Swimming sanctioned Meets.

Dear Riptide Families and Swimmers,

 

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Riptide Silver 1 training group for the 2017-2018 short course season!!

 

On Wednesday, September 6 th , there will be an All-Team Meeting , starting at5:30pm and ending at approximately 6:30pm. This meeting is for swimmers only.  Swimmers should head upstairs to the bleachers.  After a short all-team meeting, we will be breaking up into our practice groups for group meetings.

 

A Parent Meeting for Silver 1 will be held Saturday, September 9th10-11am in the lobby area.  Please plan to attend.  We will be talking about the season, upcoming meets, managing the website, and answering any questions you might have.

 

The season begins on * Monday, September 11 th , 2017 (*Tuesday, September 12 th , 2017 for Tuesday/Thursday swimmers) .  We will meet as a group in the carpeted dryland area (next to the lobby) before we head out onto the pool deck.  Please refer to the online practice calendar for any adjustments, but the general practice schedule is listed below:

  • Monday & Wednesday = 5:00-6:30pm (Monday/Wednesday swimmers only)

  • Tuesday & Thursday = 5:15-6:45pm (Tuesday/Thursday swimmers only)

  • Friday = 4:45-6:15pm (All of Silver 1)

 

In addition, please note the equipment list required for this group:

  • Long blade fins

  • Kickboard

  • Pull-Buoy

  • Water Bottle (no glass)

  • Mesh Bag

  • Goggles & Cap (for long hair)

  • Small, empty gatorade bottle with cap

  • Training suits

  • Riptide Team Gear - Team suit, team shirt, team cap
