September 6 - July 26
Please do NOT register for the program until your swimmer has been evaluated by the coaching staff and you have been placed in the appropriate training group. Registrations without an evaluation will NOT be approved.
Open to all new and returning swimmers that have mastered all of the above stated skills (Beginner & Developmental), the Novice Group is open to swimmers in the 8&U, 9-10, and 11-12 age groups. The Novice Group practices four (4) days per week (choosing from the five (5) available) for 60 minutes each session. All Novice swimmers are encouraged to participate in a minimum of four (4) short course meets per season. The emphasis in this group is on proper stroke mechanics and technique. The concept of interval training is further developed, with the use of the pace clock being very important. Swimmers will be ready to move up to the Junior Group (final decision on move ups is done by the coaching staff) when they are able to do all of the following:
* Swimmer can complete a legal 100 yard swim in each stroke, along with a 200 free
* Swimmer will show the ability to swim 500 yards without stopping in practice (not a race)
* Swimmer will show a need for more endurance base (meaning longer practice & more practices weekly)
* Swimmer can work the pace clock for all interval training
