Group Placement

All group placements are done at the coach’s discretion.  The coaching staff is looking out for the best interest of each individual athlete.  We are not in a hurry to push athletes into a group when they are not ready and believe in their long term development. We want athletes to thrive in their new group, not just survive!


Developmental

Ages: 6 – 8

Attendance Expectations: 1 hour practice, 3 times per week

Technical Requirements: 

  • Legal execution of: 50 Freestyle with rhythmic breathing, 25 Backstroke
  • Working knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly
  • Ability to execute: streamlines, dives, front somersault

Performance Requirements:

  • Not applicable to this group

Blue 2

Ages: 8 – 10

Attendance Expectations: 1.25 hour practice, 3 times per week

Technical Requirements: 

  • Legal execution of: 100 Free, 50 Back, 25 Breast, 25 Fly
  • Ability to execute: streamlines, dives, flip turns

Performance Requirements:

  • Multiple 8 & Under Minnesota ‘A’ times if still 8 years old

Blue 1

Ages: 9 - 10

Attendance Expectations: 1.5 hour practice, 4 times per week

Technical Requirements: 

  • Legal execution of: 200 Free, 200 IM, and a 100 of each of the strokes
  • Ability to regularly execute: underwater streamline with 4 dolphin kicks, competitive racing starts and relay takeoffs, flip turns and open turns, breaststroke pullouts

Performance Requirements:

  • Legal competitive history in all 8 & Under events, plus two out of the five additional 9-10 events
  • Aging up with multiple 8 & Under Minnesota ‘CH’ times
  • Multiple 9-10 USA Swimming 'BB' times
  • Must be able to execute 8 x 50 swim on 1:00

  • Demonstrate ability to receive, understand, and apply technical and strategic feedback.

Performance Requirements:

  • Legal competitive history in all 10 & Under events, plus three out of the six additional 11-12 events
  • Aging up with multiple 10 & Under Minnesota 'Champ' times
  • Multiple 11-12 USA Swimming 'BB' times
  • Must be able to execute: 8 x 100 swim on 1:40, 8 x 50 kick on 1:00, 6 x 100 IM on 1:55

Competition Expectations:

  • Desire and ability to compete at the highest level meet for which you qualify (i.e. Travel meets, State, Zones).

  • Must be able to execute: 8 x 100 swim on 1:30, 6 x 100 kick on 2:00, 6 x 100 IM on 1:50

Ages: 15 - 18

Attendance Expectations: 2 hour practice, 8 times per week

Technical Requirements:

  • All technical requirements will be at the coaching staff’s discretion.
  • Demonstrated history of receiving, understanding, and applying technical and strategic feedback.
  • Demonstrated history of controlling and maintaining reactive tendencies regarding performance outcomes.
  • Demonstrated history of outstanding leadership and an elite level of commitment to the team and sport.

Performance Requirements:

  • Legal competitive history in all events
  • 7+ Minnesota 'Champ' times
  • Multiple Max Speedo Sectional times
  • Must be able to execute: 12 x 100 swim on 1:15, 10 x 100 kick on 1:40, 10 x 100 IM on 1:30

Competition Expectations:

  • Desire and ability to compete at the highest level meet for which you qualify (ie. Speedo Sectionals, ISCA Juniors, NSCA Juniors, TYR Pro Swim Series, Winter Juniors, Summer Juniors, US Open, Nationals, Olympic Trials).

High School Maintenance

Ages: 15-18

Coached By: Barb Scouler (Lead), Carrie Stolar

Attendance Expectations: This group is for high school athletes who are unable to commit to other Senior or National level groups with the swim club. They do not compete in meets and their practices are aligned with the Masters training group on our calendars. Athletes must be USA Swimming registered and must contact Alisa Richardson regarding registration.
