Little Viking Swim School is our “learn to swim” group for ages 4-12. These classes often have a waiting list as we try to keep our classes small and aim for a 5:1 student to teacher ratio. We use a 4-station system that can help your child progress all the way from “afraid of the water” to “jumping from the diving board!”
This program is designed for a couple of different types of beginner-level swimmers:
1) Swimmers who are still learning to put their faces in the water, blow bubbles and kick but cannot yet swim independently.
2) Swimmers who are able to already swim a few feet and can take a breath without stopping, but still need a teacher in the water with them.
One of the goals of the swim school program is to get your child ready to swim independently in our deep end diving well, which is the basic requirement to join our PREP Team, but we know that not all families come to us looking for a swim team experience. Our number one focus is safety. We believe that all children should learn to be safe swimmers and our most important mission as a non-profit organization is to keep our swim lessons program as affordable as possible so that all families can have access to this important life skill. We focus on teaching your child to be safe around water so that they can enjoy aquatic activities forever.
Lessons are scheduled at 35 minutes long. Please expect your child to spend a full 35 minutes in the water. After the lesson has ended, please feel free to discuss your child's progress with his or her instructor.
We offer several convenient class times for our Lessons swimmers. You may sign up for as many days per week as you wish. Each additional class for which you register creates an additional monthly fee. When you choose your class time(s) through our online registration process, you are committing to that specific class day & time. Unless you have made arrangements ahead of time, please do not come on a day/time other than what you have registered for. If you wish to commit to more than one night per week, you can sign up for multiple classes. We set up our registration this way to ensure families have ample opportunity to fit lessons into their busy schedules more conveniently. Make up lessons may be scheduled for classes missed due to inclement weather or facility schedule conflicts (such as High School Varsity swim meets hosted at the Webb City pool), but those make ups are offered only at the discretion of the instructor(s).
All classes are currently offered at Webb City High School pool. This Fall, class offerings will be as follows (you choose classes upon registration):
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 5:00-5:35pm
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays 5:45-6:20pm
Pricing is as follows: $7 annual insurance fee due upon registration; $25 per month per class
Your swimmer will need their own pair of goggles. Sometimes we have a few spare pairs at the pool, but we generally rely on you to bring goggles with your swimmer to each lesson.
Please note that our lessons are billed on a monthly basis. Monthly dues are billed to your account on the first of every month. The best way to keep your account current is to set up automatic withdrawals on your credit card. You can set this up during the registration process. If you wish to cancel your lessons at any time, please notify our Team Manager at least one week prior to your last lesson to ensure timely cancelation. You can email our Team Manager Steph Miller at email@example.com. She will cancel your lessons so you are not billed for months you do not plan to attend. If you do not notify our Team Manager of your intent to discontinue your lessons, your credit card will continue to be charged.
