Who do the Berzerkers compete against?
USA SWIMMING: USA-S is an organization that has jurisdiction over amateur swimmers in the United States. Every swimmer must be registered with USA-S which requires an annual fee. USA-S establishes rules, sanctions competitions, and determines the eligibility of athletes. USA swimmers are the best swimmers in the United States, and always rank high in world competition. Our Local Swim Committee (LSC) is Arkansas Swimming. We report directly to Arkansas Swimming, Inc. (ASI) and have many of our competitions with other Arkansas teams.
CENTRAL ZONE: There are four Zones: Eastern, Southern, Western, and Central. Our Zone Championships are held in August and require AAA times based on the National Motivational Time Standards set at the beginning of every four-year Olympic cycle. The Central Zone is made up of the following LSC’s: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Lake Erie, Michigan, Midwestern, Missouri Valley, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Ozark, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
REGION 8/ CENTRAL SECTION: Arkansas LSC is a part of Region 8. The Region 8/ Central Sectional Championships are held in early March for the Short Course Season, and in Late July for the Long Course Season. Our Sectional Championships feature the best Senior Swimmers from the Missouri Valley, Arkansas, Midwestern, Oklahoma, and Ozark LSC’s.
ARKANSAS LSC: The Berzerkers belong to the Arkansas Local Swim Committee. Our LSC Championships (ASI Champs, or as the kids call it: "State") are in Mid-March for the short course season and late July for long course. ASI consists of all teams within the state of Arkansas, but in 2010 the Berzerkers were welcomed into the organization when we and two other teams, Springfield Aquatics and the SWMO Otters, were invited to transfer from the Missouri Valley LSC.
TRI-STATE SUMMER SWIM LEAGUE: From April to August, our PREP, Blue and Black practice groups’ transition to become the Webb City Summer Swim Team. They compete in a non-USA Swimming league of teams that operates in short course yards (SCY) rather than long course meters (LCM). Tri-State swimming can be a great step for new swim families and is where many of our best athletes fell in love with the sport!
HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING: Most of our high school age swimmers also represent their local high school in Varsity competition. Berzerker swimmers have been State Champions and even All-Americans while representing schools in Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas. We do our best to provide every advantage to Berzerkers no matter where they go to school, and love to watch them make us proud.
SENIOR LEVEL SWIMMING: Many of our highest competitions have qualifying times, and at the highest level those competitions have no age requirements or limits. Often, our top swimmers will compete against some of the best athletes from all over the nation, be they high school age, NCAA team members, or even professional athletes and Olympians from various nations. USA Swimming features a 5-star National Meet System that begins with the Sectional Championship at 1-star, and builds to the USA Swimming National Championship & Olympic Trials at 5-stars. This makes swimming a very unique sport, as the opportunities in the pool are limitless for our small town kids. So long as they want to work hard, we can take them from blowing bubbles to the highest levels of the sport from right here at BERZERKER Swimming!
