Marlins Swim Team


The Marlins Swim Team is a summer swim program offered under the direction of the COOL Swim Team for all swimmers in the Gardner & Osawatomie areas. This summer program is a combination of great fun as well as an opportunity to swim competitively against other summer swim programs. If you are looking for a great chance to have some fun while still competing at an appropriate level, look no further than the Miami County Marlins. 


Start Date: May 29
End Date: Around July 10
Cost: $125 (includes your registration fee, a team t-shirt, and a swim cap)
Practice Location: The Ozone & Gardner

Practice Times: See below (note the mix of mornings and evenings)

Meet Schedule: Meets are held on Saturday mornings. Locations and specifics are TBD.

Team Suits: Team suits are optional. More information will be available as the season gets underway.

Apparel:  Several apparel items will be available to Marlins swimmers this summer. You will be able to purchase things like caps and t-shirts. More information on apparel will be available in weeks to come.

We have 6 regular season meets and a prelims/finals meet at the end of the season. There are no meet fees! That is included in your registration fee. I will ask at practice and email parents about intentions to attend upcoming meets. There are no signups on your end, just a verbal or email confirmation of intent to participate. 

8& under 25 butterfly,
25backstroke, 25 breaststroke, 25 freestyle, and 100 I.M. There is also a 100 freestyle relay and a 100 medley relay.

9& older kids swim the same events as above but individual events are 50’s and the relays are 200’s. I can clarify further at practice for the kids.


  • June 9th- @ Osawatomie (home meet/ indoor) vs. Lee’s Summit 
  • June 16th- @ Oak Grove (outdoor pool)
  • June 23rd- @ Riptide (unknown indoor/outdoor)
  • June 30- @ Belton (indoor, swimmers/parents wait for competition outdoors, come indoors to race and watch kids race)
  • July 7- @ Blue Springs (unknown indoor/outdoor)
  • July 14- @ Osawatomie (home meet/indoor) vs. Warrensburg 
  • CHAMPS- July 20&21st @ Belton. The first day is prelims for kids 10 and younger. The second day is prelims and finals for kids 11 and older and finals for the 10& under kids. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CHAMPS, SWIMMERS MUST COMPETE IN AT LEAST TWO MEETS!

Most meets, warmups are between 7-8AM and the competition begins at 8AM. MOST MEETS last between 2-3.5 hours depending on the size of the teams competing.

Liability Waiver: For "bring a friend to practice" days and other days when non-registered swimmers will be joining us in the water, parents, please fill out this medical and liability waiver and be sure to send it with your swimmer. While we do require a paper copy of this form, if you find yourself at the pool with no paper form, you can fill out this electronic form until you can turn in a paper copy.
