Age Group II swimmers are expected to swim at all "Blazer Series" Meets held on the 3rd Friday of most months down at BVSW High School. These meets will have set objectives and themes for the swimmers. These meets will also run as a series in which awards will be handed out at our Spring Banquet.
Some local meets will also be encouraged through coaches' recommendation.

Upcoming Local Meets:

As stated in my previous newsletters, with the required Blazer Series Meets, there will also be local meets as an option to our swimmers who would like to explore more racing opportunities within USA Swimming. Below is a list and description of upcoming local meets AGI and AGII swimmers can sign up for. If you have any questions about these meets or the readiness of your swimmer, please contact me!

Ann Ketterer Memorial Meet –

This meet is an annual intra-squad meet hosted by the Blazers. This meet is one in which AGI and AGII swimmers will be expected to participate in IMR events. IMR and IMX events are used in ranking through USA Swimming. Swimmers are scored based on their times in these events as a group. We also use this information when picking training groups with our swimmers. While we use this meet to start the swimmers with emphasis on these events, it is still a fun atmosphere with a lot of team spirit! The IMR events for each age are listed below. These will take place over the sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Please see the meet information and sign up on our website!

9 & Under; 10-year olds: 100 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 IM (SC) or 200 IM (LC)

Inclement Weather at California Trail

It is the Olathe School District’s policy to close their pools if there is lightning in the area. Please keep this in mind when dropping your swimmers off at the pool. If the district informs me ahead of practice time that the pool will be closed, I will send out an email informing parents of the cancelled practice.

Inclement Weather at Roeland Park & Lenexa (summer schedule)

Roeland Park Pool and Lenexa (Indian Trails) are outdoor pools. If there is lightning in the area, the pool will be closed until the lightning moves from the area and the pool is deemed safe to swim by the pool's staff.
