AUBURN - Twenty-one Auburn swimmers and divers were named Academic All-Americans by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America while the Tiger women’s team earned All-Academic Team honors, the association announced last week.
Auburn led the nation with student-athletes with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages with nine Tigers making the list. Kara Denby, Kristen Hastrup, Melissa Marik, Julianne McLane, Erica Meissner, Jordan Anderson, Dan Mazzaferro and Pascal Wollach all registered 4.0 GPAs last year.
"The term `student-athlete’ is something that we take seriously here at the Auburn and on the swimming and diving team," said head coach Richard Quick. "I am especially proud of the accomplishments of our women’s team, as well as the individual efforts of several of our student-athletes."
Also earning CSCAA Academic All-America honors on the women’s team were Josefin Wede (3.79), Emile Ewing (3.72), Ava Ohlgren (3.67), Maggie Bird (3.64), Abby MacGregor (3.55) and Alana Dillette (3.5) while Julie Golden (3.7) earned honorable mention honors.
For the men’s team, it was Andrew Mitchell (3.85), Will Dove (3.81) and Adam Klein (3.72) joining Anderson, Mazzaferro and Wollach on the All-America team. Scott Morgan (3.69) and Caleb Dunnichay (3.53) earned honorable mention honors.
The Auburn women’s team also earned All-Academic honors as the Tigers tallied a 3.283 team GPA.

The Auburn swimming and diving team returns to action at 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 14 with its first dual meet of the season at Georgia.
