BERKELEY AQUATIC CLUB COMPETITIVE READINESS CLINICS
These clinics serve as a bridge program between the Berkeley Swim School and the BAC competitive program.
ELIGIBILITY: Advance 1, Advance 2, Intermediates Summer Club Swimmers / Competitive Swimmers / BAC Team Athletes.
Must be 6 years of age OR older on the first day of the clinic AND be comfortable in deep water to participate. Age limits will be adhered to.

Competitive Readiness Clinic will take place in the Towney Brewster Teaching Pool.
Instruction will include:
• Stroke drills and general stroke mechanics (skills to enhance potential transition to competitive program)
• An introduction to stroke transitions (skills to enhance potential transition to competitive program)
Stroke/ Dive/Turn Clinics will take place in the 25 Yard Pool
Advance Beginner 1/Advance Beginner 2/ Intermediates / Summer Club Swimmers / Competitive Swimmers / BAC Team Athletes. Must be 6 years of age OR older on the first day of the clinic AND be comfortable in deep water to participate.
CLINIC GOALS AND INSTRUCTION:
Instruction will include:
• Dive Progressions for forward dive (Free/Breast/Fly)
• Start Progressions for a backstroke start
• Flip Turns (Free and Back)
• Open Turns (Breast, Fly, IM Transitions)
Athletes are asked to be on deck, changed and ready to swim 5 minutes before the start of the clinic. Equipment: students will need goggles, swimmers with long hair must wear caps.
Additional clinics will be scheduled throughout the year focusing upon different areas of competitive swimming. The goal of this series of clinics is to build upon the instruction provided through the Berkeley Swim School and better prepare athletes within the Berkeley Swim School to successfully transition to the Berkeley Aquatic Club Swim Team when there is room and the athlete is ready. Athletes interested in the team are encouraged to attend group lessons and clinics 2 - 3 days per week in order to continue to prepare from a technical and aerobic standpoint.

There will be no make ups offered for missed clinics.

Although Berkeley Aquatic Club strives to develop champion swimmers, the club measures success not only by national championships and college scholarships, but also by personal improvement, both in and out of the pool.
