2020-21 Group Descriptions

Athletes who are new to our program must request an in-person skill assessment with one of our coaches.  This will allow us to meet you and learn about your current skill level and your swimming goals, and we will better be able to recommend a starting point in our program.  Most of our swimmers get started in the Central Ohio SwimAmerica Program where they learn the fundamental skills needed to be successful in our competitive programs listed below.

Senior

This is the highest level within WAC and includes anyone that wishes to train at a considerably higher level than their high school peers throughout the year. This group is by invitation only.   Athletes who are interested in being considered for this group should contact Coach Jim.  Swimmers will compete at a senior level in local, state, regional and national level competitions.  Training focuses on all aspects of swimming, and swimmer commitment levels reflect high goals set by the individual.

Gold2

Athletes will be selected to participate with this group based on training ability and competition results.  This group continues its focus on the development of an aerobic base and builds the anaerobic capacities with continued emphasis on stroke technique. Training skills become very important as these swimmers are exposed to more intense training.  This group is targeted to athletes who are training and competing at the Junior Olympic or Zone level.  Athletes who are interested in being considered for this group should contact Coach CJ.

Gold1

Gold 1 is the entry level competitive group for athletes Age 13 & 14.  This group will have a strong  focus on development of proper stroke technique in the four competitive strokes, their corresponding starts, turns and finishes.  The Gold1 Group also has an emphasis on building overall fitness and physical endurance.  

 

 

 

Silver 1

Athletes in the Silver 1 Group will focus on the refinement of stroke technique with a progressive emphasis on developing practice habits that will allow athletes to be successful as they improve within the sport.  This group is targeted to athletes who are approximately age 9-11 yrs old and have some competitive swimming experience.

Silver2

Athletes will be selected to participate with this group based on training ability and competition results.  Swimmers will be introduced to stroke and training drills that are designed to increase their aerobic training capacity and improve performance. This group is targeted to athletes who are in Grade 4-6 and are training and competing at the Junior Olympic or Zone level.  Athletes who are interested in being considered for this group should contact Coach CJ.

 

 

 

Bronze

The purpose of the Bronze group is to provide a fun environment where athletes age 6-10 yrs old are introduced to proper stroke technique in the four competitive strokes, their corresponding starts, turns and finishes.  Swimmers will increase their knowledge of basic practice skills while having fun.
