Portland Aquatic Club Inclusion Series
Portland Aquatic Club is committed to engage in active and intentional work that will move the club towards creating a team environment that is inclusive for all swimmers. PAC is working to increase understanding of the positive impact when swimmers feel a sense of belonging, respect and influential over their team environment and swimming experience
The Dishman site swimmers are participating in a learning series that will help them more fully develop leadership attributes that create an inclusive environment, including belongingness, empowerment, accountability, courage and humility.
This series will continue over the next few months to build a foundation that will support the swimmers and coaches in having crucial (and sometimes difficult) conversations on equity and inclusion in swimming.
I am excited and impressed with PAC’s commitment to this work and the swimmers open and honest participation in these discussions. I believe that this work will benefit the swimmers individually and as a team and these benefits will continue through their swimming careers and future educational and professional pursuits.
I encourage you to talk with your swimmers about the work we are doing and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about what we are working on.
