Yoga & Pilates


All PASA - Cardinal swimmers participate in a yoga session once or twice a week. Yoga classes are taught by Yoga Alliance-certified instructor Sorina Diaconescu. The sessions are focused on flexibility, core strength, mindfulness, and focus. We have seen measurable improvements across all age groups with regular yoga practice.


Pilates sessions are taught by certified STOTT Pilates Trainer Becky Bull. These are low-impact flexibility, muscular strength and endurance movements. Ongoing Pilates classes focus on core strength, breathing, body balance, and posture.

Sorina Diaconescu ​

Sorina is a Yoga Alliance-certified instructor with a personal yoga practice that spans two decades. She has been teaching yoga to young swimmers within the Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics program since 2013. Her work with PASA athletes focuses on promoting a balanced physique, equally flexible and strong. Through yoga postures, language and play, she encourages young swimmers to develop body and breath awareness and explore mindfulness techniques. ​

Sorina currently studies under the guidance of Indian-born master yoga teacher Anirudh Shastri, and has trained with such Western yoga luminaries as Tim Miller, Chuck Miller, David Swenson, Maty Ezraty, Seane Corn and Shiva Rea. Sorina works with clients of all ages and abilities both privately and at yoga studios within the Bay Area. A journalist in her previous career, Sorina received a B.A. in European Studies from UCLA and an M.A. in journalism from University of Southern California.

Becky Bull

Becky Bull is a fully certified STOTT Pilates Trainer and also is certified to teach group fitness by the American Council on Exercise. She began teaching Pilates in the spring of 2007, and she trains clients at all fitness levels. Some of her clients are in top shape and choose Pilates to complement their existing workouts. Some are recovering from injuries or are living with medical conditions. A former marathon runner, Becky believes Pilates can benefit everyone – making them healthier and stronger for the rest of their lives. She tailors a training regimen to each client and focuses on helping each client perform those exercises safely and most effectively. Becky graduated from Southern Methodist University.
