Senior Squad

 

 

Requirements for entry: 

    • 13 and Over
    • 500 freestyle under 5:35.66 Girls or 5:15.84 Boys
    • 200 backstroke under 2:20.40 Girls or 2:13.03 Boys
    • 200 breaststroke under 2:40.96 Girls or 2:30.37 Boys
    • 200 butterfly under 2:26.09 Girls or 2:18.30 Boys
    • 200 I.M. under 2:19.32 Girls or 2:08.68 Boys
    • 400 I.M. under 5:01.50 Girls or 4:46.70 Boys
    • 20 X 50 freestyle holding < 0:34 @ :15rest
    • 20 x 50 flutter kick holding < 0:49 @ :15rest

 

Practice Schedule:

Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Saturday From 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

 

Make-up:

There are no make-up practices

 

Required Practice Equipment:

Goggles (two pairs)

Swim cap (required for anyone with long hair, have an extra)

Swim Suit (no board shorts and no sun suits)

Finis Alignment Board

TYR Cross Blade Fins (or comparable style fin)

Water Bottle (50% gatorade or Juice and 50% Water)

Swimmers Snorkel

Finis Pulling Ankle Band

Finis Agility Hand Paddles

 

Swim Meets:

One per months is offered (if schedule permits)

Athletes in the Senior squad are encouraged to participate in the Challenge Meet Series.

Training Goals:

    • Achieve Senior Sectional Time Standards
    • Completed in all 15&O IMX events during the SC and LC Seasons
    • 500 Freestyle under 5:13.17 Girls or 4:49.98 Boys
    • 200 backstroke under 2:07.80 Girls or 1:58.45 Boys
    • 200 breaststroke under 2:29.07 Girls or 2:15.19 Boys
    • 200 butterfly under 2:12.26 Girls or 2:00.94 Boys
    • 200 I.M. under 2:11.81 Girls or 1:59.85 Boys
    • 400 I.M. under 4:39.34 Girls or 4:18.37 Boys

 

    • Athlete strives to improve proficiency in turns and uses underwater dolphin kicking as a tool in racing
    • Athlete is actively improving distance per stroke
    • Athlete strives to become more fluid in swimming (no splashing)
    • Athlete has raced in every distance, every stroke available over the duration of the season
    • Athlete knows how to manage effort and intensity through practice
    • Athlete shows willingness to learn
    • Athlete has improved on controlling attitude and focus within workout and understand that they affect teammates
    • Athlete has improved goal setting skills
    • Athlete has consistent practice attendance
    • Athlete sits with friends and teammates at swim meets
    • Athlete has leadership skills

 

Advancement of swimmers will be done at the end of the SC or LC Seasons. Some swimmers may not meet every criteria for advancement. However, based on many factors such as fitness level, age, maturity, squad cohesion and attendance coaches may place swimmers in a more or less advanced squad if it is more beneficial to the swimmer. All advancements are at the discretion of the coaching staff.
