5/14/19:  Jinxin Xiong (MET) Leadership Summit Experience:

The most significant benefit for myself is to build the network for the other coaches around the nation and how to do better with self-care. After I went through this event, I started to have a stronger sense of self-recognition of stress. The summit also helped me realized how important the coach's role for the swimmers even we are only on deck with them for 2-3 hours a day.

A lot of the self-care skills I learned there can also be used with our athletes and helping them to become a stronger swimmer and person.  Swimming practice is not just a practice for them, and it also becomes a social event and stress relief for our swimmers. I also learned that it is crucial to have an influential team culture; parents should also be part of it. A lot of the tips were given out at the summit, such as, a stress poster which will open up everyone's mind and share with their solutions to their teammates.

Fast swimming is not the only current trends for university recruiting; they also consider how strong team culture the swimmer is carrying. Coaches at the summit were very open to having a conversation with each other, giving out their coaching tips to help each other.

It was also updated a lot of new information about the USA swimming developing goals, and the goals to have more women coach roles in the organization.
