Parent Volunteer Policy
ALL TEAM PARENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE AVAILABLE AND TO VOLUNTEER AT OUR PST-HOSTED SWIM MEET SCHEDULED FOR MAY 19-20, 2018. IT IS EXPECTED THAT ALL PARENTS BE AVAILABLE TO BE ON SITE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 6:00 A.M. AND 4:00 P.M. BOTH OF THESE DAYS, AND BE AVAILABLE FOR JOBS (EITHER ON SITE OR OFF) ON FRIDAY, MAY 18. Families with two children on the team should expect to work 2 shifts per day.
All swimmers are also required to attend and swim or volunteer both days.
This requirement will NOT count towards the 12 hour annual volunteer requirement.
In addition to the above requirement, PST requires a minimum volunteer commitment of 12 hours per swim year per family. Volunteer hours are mainly available for jobs at swim meets. There may be additional volunteer opportunities available throughout the swim year in the form of providing items for parties/special events. At the end of the swim year families will be charged $25/hour for every unworked hour.
Please note: If minimum 12 hour requirement has been fulfilled, volunteering at Meets where your swimmer is swimming is still mandatory - see below.
Swim Meet Volunteer Policy:
Parents who sign their child(ren) up for a Meet are required to volunteer for either canopy and supplies (buckets, tarps, rope) transport, and/or a timing shift, between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at least once during the Meet. Families with 2 or more swimmers attending a Meet may be asked to cover two volunteer shifts for the Meet.
If parents are not available during those hours, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN YOUR SWIMMER(S) UP FOR THE MEET. Unfulfilled volunteer duties will be assigned the Thursday morning before the Meet and it is expected parents not only check their email to understand the assignment(s), but fulfill the assignment(s) as well. If not, they will be charged a $100 No Show Fee per assignment. It is the responsibility of parents to read all emails.
If a swimmer is signed up but doesn’t attend the Meet, regardless of circumstance, parents are still responsible to fulfill volunteer assignments or will be charged a $100 No Show Fee for each missed assignment.
If volunteers have an emergency and cannot fulfill a shift, they must find a replacement or switch with another volunteer.
Volunteers who sign up for the 1-3pm timing shift will still receive two hours volunteer credit if the Meet ends early.
Unless you notify the meet organizer or head coach, it will be assumed you are available to volunteer either day of the meet.
All No Shows will be charged $100 per missed job.
PST Officials are excluded from this volunteer requirement but must work together to insure that all required meet officiating spots are filled by the group.
