Pre-Competition:  (Intro to Competitive Swimming)

($70 Per Month)

Overview:

Swimmers who have no competitive experience are recommended to begin here.  It is a great place to start.  The group is focused on learning to perform the four competitive stroke kicks and develop a basic understanding of stroke technique.  Swimmers will also learn the basics of the forward start (Used for butterfly, breaststroke and freestyle) and the backward start (used for backstroke).

Eligibility:

  • Age 5 & Up
  • Ability to swim 25 yards (one length) Freestyle or Backstroke unassisted

Attendance Requirement:

  • None

Practices:

  • 4 practices per week
  • 45 minutes per practice

Required Equipment:

  • Goggles
  • Swim Cap: If hair comes to or below ears
  • Kickboard
  • Fins
    • Money saving tip: If fins are a little too big, have your swimmer wear an old pair of socks with them.  Socks will fill in the extra space and as they get older, their feet will fill in the fins

Skills Acquired:

  • Legal kick in all four competitive strokes (Butterfly/Backstrok/Breaststroke/Freestyle)
  • Understanding of Freestyle and Backstroke technique
  • Basic concepts of Butterfly and Breaststroke
  • Legal forward and backward starts
