2018 Summer Long Course Program

PRACTICES START JUNE 14, 2018 AND GO UNTIL August 3, 2018 (all afternoon practices at the Pavilion will end after July 27, 2018, and morning LC practices will end August 3, 2018).

TIDAL WAVELEVEL 1 - LEVEL 2 - LEVEL 3 - LEVEL 4 - LEVEL 5

Swimmers who swim with us this summer should plan to improve far and above the average for the rest of the team, in all events.  You will come back in the fall in much better shape, much stronger, and with better strokes.  Participation in this year’s summer program could go a long ways towards dramatic improvements next year.

  • Thursday: 5:45-6:45am LC at Windmill Pool
This is an extension of the TIDAL Wave squad for the summer.

What are our expectations?

  1. We expect you to challenge yourself to swim your best at those practices, with good strokes, good effort, and good attitudes

Level 1:

  • Monday: 4:00-5:30pm at Pavilion (dryland time included)
  • Tuesday: 6:45-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
  • Thursday: 6:45-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
  • Friday: 4:00-5:30pm at Pavilion (dryland time included)
This level is designed for GREEN Crest and TYPHOON 2 and strong TYPHOON 1 swimmers who will be working towards swimming long course meets over the summer. This may be your first summer with BLUE WAVE, and you may need some additional preparation to be ready for long course practices or meets. 
 
Our goal is to continue working on stroke development. Less emphasis will be placed on conditioning, since you will probably be swimming daily with your local summer team.
 
What are our expectations?
  1. We would like swimmers to attend  at least three practices on a weekly basis, but are welcome to attend all four.
  2. We expect you to challenge yourself to swim your best at those practices, with good strokes, good effort, and good attitudes.
  3. You are expected to represent BLUE WAVE at the VA State LC Champs, SNOW June meet and if you qualify the NBAC July LC Meet and PVS championships.
  • Monday: 6:15-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
  • Tuesday: 5:00-6:30pm at Pavilion (dryland time included)
  • Wednesday: 6:15-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
  • Thursday: 5:00-6:30pm at Pavilion (dryland time included)
  • Friday: 6:15-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
This level is intended for BLUE Crest and GREEN Crest 2 and strong GREEN Crest 1 who will be working to swim long course meets over the summer. This may be your first summer swimming with BLUE WAVE, and you may need some additional preparation to be ready for long course practices or meets. 
 
Our goal will be to continue working on stroke development, with an emphasis placed on conditioning, since you will be swimming long course over the summer.
 
What are our expectations?
  1. We would like swimmers to attend at least four practices a week but are welcome and encouraged to attend all five.  Please note that all scheduled practices and dry-land sessions are recommended for continued improvement.
  2. We expect you to challenge yourself to swim your best at those practices, with good strokes, good effort, and good attitudes.
  3. You are expected to represent BLUE WAVE at the VA State LC Champs, SNOW June meet and if you qualify the NBAC July LC Meet and PVS championships.

Friday:
  • 5:45-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
This level is intended for the GREEN Tide and strongest BLUE Crest swimmers who may already have championship times (qualifying times for the LC meets), and will benefit from long course training and competition.
 
Our goal will be to continue working on your strokes and to continue to increase your level of athleticism and conditioning. Depending on parental volunteers, special activities may be planned for this squad.
 
What are our expectations?
  1. 90% practice attendance Dry-land is a vital part of this squad and is not optional.  Please note that all scheduled practices and dry-land sessions are recommended for continued improvement.
  2. We expect you to challenge yourself to swim your best at those practices, with good strokes, good effort, and good attitudes
  3. You are expected to represent BLUE WAVE at the VA State LC Champs, SNOW June meet and if you qualify the NBAC July LC Meet and PVS championships. In addition attend the highest level of Championship meet you are eligible for.

  • 3:00-4:00pm Dryland at Beyond Strength Performance
Tuesday:
  • 5:45-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
  • 3:00-4:30pm at Pavilion

  • 3:00-4:00pm Dryland at Beyond Strength Performance
Thursday:
  • 5:45-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
  • 3:00-4:30pm at Pavilion
Friday:
  • 5:45-7:45am LC at Windmill Pool
This level is intended for the BLUE Tide and strongest GREEN Tide. It is designed for the swimmer who have championship times (qualifying times for the LC Age Group / SR Championships), will be swimming other LC meets over the course of the summer, and need the benefits of LC training and competition.
 
Our goal is to stress your level of athleticism and conditioning, and to continue working with you on your strokes. Depending on parental volunteers, special activities may be planned for this squad.
 
What are our expectations?
  1. We expect you to challenge yourself to swim your best at those practices, with good strokes, good effort and good attitudes.
  2. The highest level of attendance is required. Dryland is a vital part of this squad and is required towards your attendance record.
  3. You are expected to represent BLUE WAVE at the VA State LC Champs, SNOW June meet and if you qualify the NBAC July LC Meet and PVS championships. In addition attend the highest level of Championship meet you are eligible for.

This level is intended for those swimmers in RIP Tide. It is a logical extension of our winter program. 
 
As you will learn, our summer program is a bit different from our winter program.  We have more time to be able to swim, but we also have more time to be able to organize activities. 
 
What are our expectations?
  1. We expect you to already be familiar with all of our expectations.
  2. Dryland is a vital part of this squad and is required towards attendance.
  3. The highest level of attendance is required.
  4. You are expected to represent BLUE WAVE at the VA State LC Champs, SNOW June meet and if you qualify the NBAC July LC Meet and PVS championships. In addition attend the highest level of Championship meet you are eligible for.
