Things you need to know about joining

The agreement between you and MSSC and gives MSSC specific legal rights to collect payment. The program fee includes USA Swimming Registration and all standard meet entry fees. That being said if an athlete is registered for a swim meet it is considered a commitment and will require a commitment of resources on the part of MSSC to enter that athlete in the swim meet. If the athlete then fails to show, the family account will be assessed the applicable meet entry fees for that swim meet plus .50 per entry to cover the administrative costs. That fee will need to be paid before registration for the next meet can be accepted.

Important things to know:

  • By registering with the Maryland Suburban Swim Club you agree that you are joining a year round program and will be responsible for paying your entire financial obligation and will pay any late charges if you fail to pay on time. You also agree to support the team's fundraising through the five (5) MSSC operated swim meets and the Annual Swim - A - Thon (if applicable). No other financial obligations are required of you or your family unless you choose to take advantage of other opportunities such as participation in social activities, travel trips or other offerings provided by MSSC.
  • The five (5) meets we host are an important part of funding the programs of MSSC. These meets serve as a convenience to our families in terms of location and also support the PVS community since PVS cannot host enough meets to serve all its athletes. A major challenge is staffing our meets with enough volunteers. MSSC parents are asked to support our meets in 2 ways.

1. Food Donation for the Hospitality Table:

All MSSC Families are asked to contribute $20 worth of items to the Hospitality Table. Examples are: 2 L bottles of Name brand sodas, case of bottled water, juice, Gatorade and bakery items.

2. Each family who has a swimmer competing in a MSSC hosted meet is expected to work 2 sessions per meet according to the list below. A session is approximately 5 hours and is calculated accordingly. Jobs sign up appears under each swim meet event so it is easy to sign up.

Sr Training Group - 9 sessions or 45 hours
JR Training Group - 7 sessions or 35 hours
Age Group - 5 sessions or 25 hours
Mini's and Developmental - 9U - 3 sessions or 15 hours

Please check the MSSC meet schedule under events for the 2016-17 MSSC hosted swim meets.
