Job Descriptions

Meets begin at 6:30 and generally end 4 hours later in the absence of weather delays and unexpected difficulties (e.g., not having enough volunteers to start the meet)

Meet Recorder (home and away meets)
Required time: 6:00-end of meet
Seated at the official’s table. Records the place number of each DW swimmer earns.

Stroke & Turn Judge (home meet only)
Required time: 6:00-end
Must be CCAA trained & certified.

Meet Referee (away meet only)
Required time: 6:00-end of meet
Must be CCAA trained & certified.

Timer (home and away meets)
Required time: 6:00-end of meet
Stands behind the starting blocks. Uses a stop watch to time each race and records those times for each swimmer in the designated lane.

Place Judge (home and away meets)
Required time: 6:00-end of meet
Stands to the side of start blocks. Determines 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th place winners. Holds up a designated colored flag at the lane after the race ends. Escorts the winner to the official’s table to report.

Ribbon Coordinator (home meets only)
Required time: 6:00-end of meet
Seated at the official’s table. Uses the information reported at the official’s table after each race to hand out ribbons to the 1st-4th place winners.

Score Keeper (home and away meets)
Required time: 6:00-end of meet
Seated at the official’s table. Records the points earned per race for DWST. Adds the points up to maintain a running total of points for the meet.

Starter (home meets only)
Required time: 6:00-end of meet
Stands at the head of the pool. Announces all information necessary to manage the meet. Starts each individual race. This should be someone very familiar with the swim meet format and someone willing to speak to large crowds of people over our speaker system.

Data Entry (home and away meets)
Required time: 6:00-end
Electronically record swimmer times, home and away meets. Please coordinate with Coach Sara or Erin Richmond prior to the meet.

Swimmer Handlers  (home and away meets)
Required time: 6:00-end
Assist with swimmer line-up, help keep order while on deck and maintain swimmer camp.  This is specifically geared towards handling the younger swimmers.

Set Up (home meets only)
Required time: 5:00-7:00
MUST ARRIVE AT 5:00. 
1. Set up all tables needed: official’s table and ribbon table.
2. Remove all lounge chairs and place them behind the bushes.
3. Make sure the trash cans are empty, lined, and placed appropriately.
4. Set up official’s tent to left of starting blocks.
5. Set up lights in official’s tent & trees and run & tape down extension cords, hang sponsor banners.

Break Down (home meets only)
Required time: 10:00-gates close
Return all tables and chairs to their original positions and undo all the set up crew put in place (see set up job above). Return the pool, bathrooms and deck to its pre-swim meet condition. Return items (tent, totes) to storage closet at main pool, Coach Sara has keys...if unsure of location please ask Erin Richmond for direction prior to meet end.

Trash Removal (home meets only)
Required time: 8:30-gates close
1. End of the meet, remove all trash bags, replace liners and take the bags to the dumpster in parking lot near work out facility with the provided wagon. 
2. Clean up all remaining trash that is on the deck and grounds. Recruit swimmers to assist and pick up after themselves!
