Behind the Blocks

The Behind the Blocks parent is available to help assure all MWW swimmers, but especially the younger ones and new swimmers, are in the right lanes and order, and are on the blocks at the right time to start their race.  One of the coaches will also likely be there to assist as available.

PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO BRING THEIR SWIMMERS BEHIND THE BLOCKS AT THE PROPER TIME.

1. Before the meet starts, get a list of swimmers by event, heat & lane from the meet coordinator.

2. Come behind the blocks at first call for the first event and be available to help line up swimmers.

3. For relays, all 100 y/m races (10 & U) have two swimmers at each end of the pool.  For 200 y/m races, all swimmers are at the block end of the pool.

4. Meets will start with 200 Y swims for older swimmers, then relays – either a free relay or a medley relay.  Then the individual events starting with 6U.

Just do your best. This is one of the most fun jobs – the kids are so excited and want to do the right thing!  Having an adult to help them know they are in the right place is a great reassurance.
