Piranha's Practice Groups

If fall tryouts have already taken place, please read through the following descriptions and then come to the practice your swimmer would most fit in to do a tryout. Your swimmer will swim that practice as their tryout and if they make it the coach will let you know. If they do not make it then the coach will make recommendations, such as continuing swim lessons. You may email the coach or just show up to that practice.

If you have not done so already, go back to the general "Our Team" tab and read through the very important information listed there.

Group I:

This is our entry-level group and generally includes 6-8 yr olds. Athletes must be able to complete 100 yards, swimming at least one length of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly. Swimmers will begin refining their strokes, turns, and starts. This group aims to provide a fun environment for swimmers.

Swimmers can pick two days per week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, 4:15 - 5:00 PM 

Group II:

Athletes in this group are usually between 8-10 years old. Swimmers are first exposed to competitive swimming training. This group will focus on learning techniques and establishing competitive swimming habits. Swimmers in this group are highly encouraged to participate in competitive swim meets.

Swimmers can pick two days per week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, 5:00 - 6:00 PM

Group III:

Athletes entering this group are usually 11 and 12 years old and must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Training and technique are key elements of this group. Swimmers will be introduced to cross training by participating in occasional dry land exercises. 

Swimmers can pick two days per week, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, 6:00 - 7:00 PM

Group IV:

Athletes in this group are usually 13+ years old and must display a strong desire to perform at his/her highest level. Training is geared towards individual talents and a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Dry land exercises will be an essential part of this group for a cross training benefit.

Swimmers can pick two to four days per week, Monday through Thursday 7:00 - 8:00 PM and Friday 4:00 - 5:00 PM
