The Ashburn Village Aqua Jets is open to Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion members and Non-members from 5-18 years of age who can swim two 25 meters laps unaided of either freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, or butterfly. Our well-credentialed coaching staff will teach and develop proper stroke technique in freestyle, backstroke, starts, turns, finishes, as well as educate on the effective use of swimming equipment. Butterfly and breaststroke will be introduced based upon swimmer’s abilities.
· Practices are divided by age. Please refer to our practice schedule page for specific information. All practices are structured to provide a fun yet instructional workout for the beginning swimmer and a more challenging program focused on speed, endurance, and racing techniques for the more advanced swimmers. While this is a developmental program, Aqua Jets should not be considered a substitute for swim lessons. Lifeguards will be on duty and safety will be stressed at all times.
· The Ashburn Village Aqua Jets compete against neighboring community swim teams throughout the Colonial Swim League. All swimmers have the opportunity to participate in several races within their age group on Wednesday evenings while the team’s top swimmers compete for league standings on Saturday mornings.
Welcome Little Squirts! Our program is specially designed for swimmers from 5 to 8 years of age who can swim one lap of the pool unaided of either freestyle or backstroke The goal of this program is to prepare these swimmers for the Aqua Jets 8 and under group. Swimmers must be 5 years of age by June 15, 2019.
Little Squirts swimmers register under the Aqua Jet registration system. All participating families are asked to sign up for volunteer jobs. Little Squirts will practice at the same time as the 8 and Under groups. Please refer to our practice schedule page for more information
The ultimate goal of the Little Squirts program is to prepare these swimmers for the Aqua Jets 8 and under group. Additionally, we work to:
· Foster confidence in our young swimmers
· Introduce the basic skills of backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly
