KARAKUNG SWIM CLUB -- RULES AND REGULATIONS

The following Rules and Regulations (collectively the “Rules”) are for the protection and benefit of all members.  ALL MEMBERS MUST FOLLOW THE RULES and obey the instructions of the Pool Manager, Assistant Manager(s) and all other Pool employees (“Pool Management Team”). The Rules are not exhaustive and include common sense interpretation and extensions of the Rules to fulfill their stated general purposes. Any failure to comply with the Rules may result in suspension of pool privileges and/or cancellation of membership as set forth in the KSC Bylaws.

  1. Procedures Regarding COVID-19

    1. Any member that has symptoms of COVID-19, has tested positive for COVID-19 or thinks he or she was exposed to someone with COVID-19 during the past 14 days must not come to the pool.

    2. If you have any of the following symptoms (identified by the CDC), do not come to the pool: 

- Fever or chills                                   - A cough

- Shortness of breath                           - Fatigue

- Muscle or body aches                       - Headache

- New loss of taste or smell                 - Sore throat

- Congestion or runny nose                 - Nausea or vomiting

- Diarrhea

  1. Mask Requirements: 

    1. All members, guests, and staff, whether vaccinated or not, are required to wear masks in the bathrooms and the snack bar. This measure is designed to protect the health and safety of our unvaccinated members and staff, including children who are not yet eligible for vaccination.

    2. Children aged 2 and under are never required to wear masks. Masks must never be worn in the pool. 

    3. The Board will continue to monitor developments related to COVID-19 and federal, state, and local guidance. This policy is subject to change as conditions warrant.

  2. POOL HOURS

    1. MONDAY THRU SATURDAY: 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM

SUNDAY: 12:00 Noon to 9:00 PM

  1. The pool will close at 8:00 PM starting the second week in August.

  2. The pool will be closed when necessary for maintenance, cleaning, or repair operations.

  3. Use of the pool is strictly prohibited when there are no lifeguards on duty.

  4. Any member using the pool before or after hours will be subject to discipline by the Rules Committee in accordance with the Board of Governors.

  5. The pool will not be available to members during scheduled swimming meets and only half of the pool will be open during diving meets.

  6. ADMISSION

    1. No person will be admitted to the pool premises without a duly authorized membership card.

    2. Members age 11 or older may attend the pool without a parent/chaperone.

    3. All members under age 11 must be accompanied by a parent/chaperone who is at least 14 years old.

    4. Membership cards are not transferable. The club reserves the right to cancel a membership if improper use of the membership card has been established.

    5. Membership cards must be scanned at the card scanning station located at the front desk each time a member enters the pool area.  If a membership card is lost, such loss shall be reported to a member of the Pool Management Team and application made to the Membership Committee for a new card.  A fee must accompany each application for each card to be replaced.

    6. Only members are permitted on the grounds of the club. The Pool Management Team may ask for the showing of a membership card if there is any question of trespassing.

    7. The club has no facilities for checking valuables.  Please do not bring them.  The club will not be responsible for articles lost or stolen.

  7. GUESTS

    1. Because of precautions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, guests will not be permitted at the pool before Friday, June 18, 2021.

    2. Only members 11 years and older are permitted guest privileges.

    3. If any guest is age 13 or younger, a KSC member who is at least 14 years old must “sponsor” that guest and chaperone the guest throughout the guest’s time at the pool.

    4. Thirty (30) total guests are permitted per bond per season.  Guests will be permitted only when accompanied and registered by an eligible member. Members are responsible for guests.  Guest rates are established each year and are payable in cash by the member at the pool gate entrance. Admittance of guests is at the discretion of the Pool Management Team. An Active or Senior Member may apply for additional guests and the decision to allow more guests is within the discretion of the Pool Manager.

    5. A maximum of 50 guests per weekday (or any number prescribed at the discretion of the Management Team) will be allowed use of the pool. There will be no cash refunds, even in the event of closure due to inclement weather.  Discretion of the Pool Management Team will be used in these decisions.

    6. Any exception to these guest rules must be requested in writing and addressed to the Rules Committee Chairman.

    7. Members guilty of violating the guest regulations may be subject to loss of all privileges.

  8. BEHAVIOR AND SAFETY RULES

    1. The lifeguards and all other members of the Pool Management Team, under the direction of the Pool Manager or Assistant Manager, are in complete charge of the pool. OBEY THEIR ORDERS. Talking and loitering at lifeguard stands is prohibited.

    2. All members, including children, shall use the pool and its facilities at their own risk. Children must pass a swimming test as approved by the Pool Management Team before use of the diving and slide area.  MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND GUESTS.  The Pool Management Team reserves the right to refuse use of the pool facilities to any member if they believe that member poses a safety risk.

    3. Use of the baby pool shall be limited to children 8 years of age and younger.

    4. All members shall observe the following:

  9.  No footwear shall be worn on the pool deck.

  10. Glass containers of any sort are forbidden on the club grounds. This includes baby bottles, shampoo bottles and food containers.

  11. Running, pushing, wrestling, ball-playing, or causing undue disturbance in or about the pool area are not allowed.

  12. Pets are not allowed on the pool grounds.

  13. Spitting and blowing of the nose in the pool is strictly prohibited.

  14. Admission shall be refused to anyone with skin abrasions, bandages, colds, inflamed eyes, or infections, in addition to symptoms related to COVID-19 above.

  15. Only 1 person is allowed on the diving board at a time.  This includes the entire diving board structure.  Diving must be towards target. Diving is at your own risk.

  16. Floating aids, masks, fins, balls, plastic toys, etc., are not allowed in the main pool, except as approved by the Management Team.

  17. No one will be allowed in the pool without proper swimming attire. Cutoffs are not permitted in the pool.

  18. No one is permitted in the main pool unless toilet trained. No one over the age of 8 is allowed in the main pool wearing diapers.  Children not toilet trained are permitted in the baby pool provided they wear diapers and rubber pants.

  19. No one is allowed to leave the pool grounds by going over or under the perimeter fences.  If a member must temporarily leave the grounds, it must be through the entrance gate.

  20. PARKING

    1. Cars:

  21. Shall be parked on club property only in the space provided for that purpose.

  22. Entrances, exits, and roadways shall be kept clear at all times.

  23. Township regulations will not permit parking on Karakung Drive.

  24. Members shall drive slowly and carefully on driveways and the parking area.

  25. No repairs or work is permitted on automobiles in the parking area except for emergencies.

  26. Disabled automobiles must be removed from the parking area within twenty-four hours.

  27. Bicycles must be parked in the stalls provided.

  28. GENERAL

    1. The Pool Management Team shall have the:

      1. Authority to enforce these rules.

      2. Right to refuse entry to the facilities or eject anyone from the facilities.

      3. Duty to operate and police the pool and other facilities. They will be responsible for general conduct, as well as sanitation and safety.

    2. Conduct:

      1. No playing or loitering in locker rooms.

      2. Littering of any sort is prohibited.

      3. Abusive language or any unnecessary noise shall not be permitted. This includes the playing of bluetooth speakers or portable radios at a volume, which would be disturbing to nearby members.

      4. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the pool grounds.

      5. Smoking shall not be permitted on the pool grounds.

      6. There shall be no loitering, running, pushing, or causing undo disturbance on the footbridge crossing the creek from the parking area to the pool entrance.

      7. Karakung Creek is completely off-limits to everyone.

      8. Any other conduct deemed inappropriate will be referred to the Rules Committee for action.

      9. Food and refreshments may be consumed only in the prescribed area. POSITIVELY NO EATING OR DRINKING IS ALLOWED IN THE MAIN POOL AREA AND BABY POOL AREA. Food and refreshments may be consumed only in the snack bar area, the picnic area and recreation area.

      10. Cooking of any kind, including small barbecue grills, is prohibited within the club grounds.

      11. The cost of any property damage caused by a member or their guest(s) shall be the responsibility of and charged to the responsible member.

      12. Lounge chairs may be used in the grass area only.  The club is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen furniture from the pool grounds. 

      13. The railroad tracks right of way is off limits.  Any member caught trespassing on this property will be suspended for 30 days and repeated failure to comply with this rule could be sufficient cause for cancellation of membership.

      14. The Rules Committee shall have the power to issue suspensions up to 30 days for infractions of these Rules.

      15. All problems relating to the Rules must be submitted in writing by the member to the Chairman of the Rules Committee for a response.

      16. The Rules may be revised at any time by the Rules Committee or the Board of Governors.
