Steven Heinsma, Head Coach

In his fifth year as the Crocodiles Head Coach, Steven began swimming for the Crocs with his twin brother at age 7 and swam in the program for the next ten years. Along the way, he also swam four years for Castro Valley High School and served as Head Captain in 2012. He’s never drifted far from the pool after Crocs, first swimming for EBAT Masters and later beginning a coaching career in 2013. He emphasizes hard work and fun in equal doses, remembering the impact key coaches with a similar philosophy made on his own life. Steven graduated in June 2016 with a degree in Recreation Management and is currently a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Lafayette.

Megan Heinsma, Lead Assistant Coach

In her first year coaching for the Crocodiles, Megan comes to us with years of coaching experience. Megan coached for four years on the Chabot Marlins and also swam for the team for many years with her sister, and past Crocs coach, Olivia Wallace. Megan also spent several years swimming for EBAT and all four years for CVHS. She went on to swim for Las Positas College where she qualified and swam at the CCCAA State Championships. In addition to coaching, Megan is a Client Relations Associate for Capital Insight Financial Group and is studying to become a Financial Planner and Advisor.

Genevieve Cagigas, Assistant Coach

Following her own stellar career as a Crocodile swimmer, which began in first grade, Genevieve begins her fifth coach-only season after two summers where she both coached and swam. A four year swimmer at Bishop O'Dowd and a graduate of the University of Puget Sound where she swam collegiately, Coach Genevieve now works as a Behavior Technician for Autism Specturm Therapies. She is roundly teased by friends for a habit of drinking iced beverages “way too fast” but remains unfazed by their comments.

Samantha Roberts, Assistant Coach

Coach Samantha started as a junior coach on the Crocodiles and is now entering her second season as an assistant coach. She has been swimming for 13 years and started on the Crocodiles when she was 11 years old. Coach Sam swam all four years at CVHS and is now a freshman swimming at Chabot College. She is excited to see all the talent on this years team and is looking forward to getting to know all of the new swimmers.
