TEAM STANCE ON BULLYING
Biloxi Indian Swimming promotes and facilitates healthy relationships between athletes, coaches, parents and volunteers through all outlets. Everyone has the right to feel physically and emotionally safe, in person and online. We believe that everybody should enjoy our sport and our facilities regardless of color, race, gender, popularity, religion, and nationality. Bullying and cyber bullying causes pain and stress to victims and is never justified or excusable as “kids being kids,” “just teasing,” or any other rationalization. There is a no tolerance policy for bullying on our team.
I commit that I will not bully my peers. When witnessing bullying, I will report honestly and immediately to one of my coaches or to an adult. I will value the differences of my teammates and treat others with respect. I will make myself aware of my schools policies on bullying and will honor those policies. I will be alert in places around the school and swim facility where there is less adult supervision such as bathrooms, corridors, and stairwells. I will support my teammates who have been or are subjected to bullying/cyber bullying. I will be a good role model for younger athletes.
I commit to encourage my child to always respect others. I have discussed this agreement with my child and have instructed my child not to bully. I have advised my child to report any bullying to any coach or an adult. I will also abide by this policy.
