Swim Meets:

Make sure to double check the website before events as schedules can change occasionally.

For home meets, your athlete will arrive early to help with pool set up and warm up for their events.  The athletes also are responsible for staying to take down the pool after home meets.  Athletes will ride the bus from school to the away meets.  They can take the bus back to BHS or you can bring them home.  See one of the coaches or team managers to authorize bringing your daughter home from an away meet by signing the team roster.  For all meets, make sure your son/daughter brings a dinner or healthy snacks since meets tend to finish late (around 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. for dual meets).

Admission costs for adults $6.00, students $4.00 and 60+ Free to get into meets for Anoka Hennepin. You can purchase a punch pass at the high school if you wish.  Volunteers at home meets will get free admission.

Invitational meets are typically Varsity Only events.  If the coaching staff feels the team and individual will benefit from participating, the athlete will be asked to participate in that specific invitational.

Swim Gear:

Team Swim Suit- place order at swim picnic in August or see coach.

Team Swim cap- provided by team.  Coach will pass out.

Team Warm ups- provided by team.  You will need to turn in at end of season unless you purchase your own warm ups. Bring to all meets.  NO CLUB GEAR is allowed at meets.

Water bottle- Please bring to each practice and meet.  You need to stay hydrated.

Kickboard, fins and pull buoys will be provided at the pool.  If you have your own, you may leave it at the pool.

Dryland- you will want a mat or towel and workout clothes. Varsity required; JV optional.

Saturday practice and early AM practice- Varsity required; JV optional.

Lockers- are available at the pool, you will need a lock.  Most swimmers don’t use the lockers because they are so small and the suits won’t dry.

T-Shirt, sweatshirt samples are available to try on at picnic and order information will be passed out at picnic.

Special Events:

Car Wash- Date and time listed on events tab (usually a Saturday in August).  This is a great time to get to know each other.  A few volunteers needed along with supplies.

Craft Fair- This is our biggest fundraiser and beats selling items door to door!  Please plan on helping out, there are many positions to fill.  Held over MEA weekend at BHS.  Swimmers and Divers are expected to help set up/take down and work throughout the craft fair.

Swimmer Breakfast- Breakfasts are Saturday mornings, immediately after practice at the pool and hosted by parents from designated age groups.  Breakfast items are donated by parents.  Watch for sign-up information as the date approaches.

Pasta Dinners- Carbo load two nights before big meets! Again this can’t happen without parents help.  Fun for the swimmers and divers to spend time out of the water together doing what they do best besides swim/dive, EAT!  In the past, pasta and sides of red sauce and white sauce, meatballs, bread/butter, salads and casseroles have been big hits.  You can set up in the concession area and athletes really appreciate it!

Girls Team Only:  Big Sister/Little Sister- Will be determined by the Captains for the new girls to have someone more experienced to go to with questions and encouragement.  This is a great bond between the athletes.  Big Sisters/Little Sisters should support and encourage each other before and during meets.  If you choose to provide gifts, it should be something low cost (the last meet of the season can be bigger).  The important part is to cheer your sister on during meets.  Please encourage your child to make a poster, card or purchase a small item to show support to the sister.  Pinterest has many great ideas. For example, a pack of Extra gum and a note that says” for all the extra hard work you have put in lately” or Propel water with a note “propel yourself tonight!”

Parties- Please note that all athletes must be included. Parents usually team up to host parties.  Swimmers often contribute money towards food and supplies.  Parties typically will be held Saturdays after meets. Hosting parents will set the start and end times then send out hard copy invitations.

Volunteer Opportunities:

It’s important we support our athletes both in and out of the pool.  We need parent volunteers to ensure our meets can take place, to provide our athletes with team-bonding activities and to keep the cost of participating in a team sport lower.

You don’t have to pay to get into the meet if you volunteer!

Concessions- We need about 5 volunteers for each home meet to run the concession stand.  Food is provided.  You can go out and watch your child during their events.  Concessions will also ask for pop donations at the beginning of the season to sell during meets.  Watch for communications and please drop off a case of pop if you can help.

Timers- No experience needed you will get trained on the spot!  One of the easiest things to do, just wear shoes that can get wet.

T-shirt sales- at some of the larger meets we sell t-shirts need 2 volunteers at the table. Please note that cash is required. Usually run between $ 15-20.

Photographer- if you have the knack to take great pictures!

Coaches food- At larger meets we provide food for the coaches and officials.  They don’t have a lot of time but do need a bite to eat!  Finger food is great can be anything you want to bring.

Booster Club- Parent run.  Meets the first Monday every month at 7:00 p.m. at BHS.  All are welcome to attend.

Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the TeamUnify website.  Please click the job signup button for the Event you would like to signup for to register.
