GROUP LESSON SWIM INSTRUCTORS
Group Swim Lesson Coordinator: Grace Carter
Meet Grace Carter! She is the coordinator of the Group Lessons Program. She is a first grade teacher at Gayton Elementary School, and teaches dance at the Village Dance Studio during the school year. Grace is a KRA native. She started swimming on the swim team at the age of five and went all the way to her senior season. After graduating high school, Grace attended James Madison University for undergraduate and graduate school. During her college summers she coached for KRA for four seasons as an assistant swim coach and the head mini-mites coach, as well as taught private lessons. She is excited to return to KRA this summer to lead the group swim lessons program!
Meet Alex Searles! Alex joined the Kanawha swim team when she was seven years old and also swam year-round for NOVA through high school. She was a founding member of the Douglas Freeman swim team. She has served as a Kanawha Pre-team coach and as a Kanawha swim team assistant coach. She also is a certified lifeguard at Kanawha. Alex is a rising senior at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland where she swims in the Centennial Conference. Alex is a breaststroker at heart and she still holds several records at Kanawha, so check the records board! Alex is an admitted meticulous perfectionist in both her studies and swimming and is excited to bring her talents back to Kanawha again this summer.
Meet Gina Vinson! Gina joined the Kanawha swim team when she was five and will continue to swim for us this summer. She also swims on the Douglas Freeman High School swim team and will graduate in 2021. She’s the the youngest in a family of swimmers (older brother Anthony swims for Hampden-Sydney College and sister Maria Vinson swims for Roanoke College) so she’s grown up around the pool her entire life! Her infectious energy is sure to be a hit with the kids and she is excited to teach them all she knows about swimming.
