Coach Andy Maryatt
Andy is an energetic coach and swimmer with a life long love of the sport. He spent his early years swimming in the Bay Area and still holds the High School Section record at Monta Vista High School and was his team's MVP and Team Captain. He went on to earn a MVP and Team Captain position at De Anza Community College. Currently, he swims with a local master's group and routinely competes in local meets, national championship meets, and international competitions. Andy and his wife raised 3 successful High School and Collegiate swimmers. Swimming is in Andy's blood.
Andy coached the Orangevale Tigersharks, and under his leadership, the Tigersharks completed a successful 2019 season as champions in their swim league. Andy is also the Head Varsity Swim Coach at Oakmont High School and the Assistant Coach for the Rocklin Aquatics Masters SwimTeam. Andy was mentored and coached by Chris Breitbart (Community College Coach of the Year) and Larry Rogers (National High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year). The Barracudas look forward to a successful future ahead with Coach Andy bringing his skills to the Barracudas pool deck to grow and strengthen our team.
Joan started as an Age Group swimmer at age 7 and continued through the National level with the De Anza Swim Club in Cupertino, CA. She continued swimming in college on a swimming scholarship at the University of Miami, Florida. During summers she taught swim lessons at all levels and coached at the Cupertino Hills Swim and Racquet Club and The Santa Clara Swim Club. Joan took a long hiatus from coaching to pursue high tech career at HP (22 years) and start a family. She returned to coaching with QuickSilver Swimming in San Jose, CA where she spent 10 years working with all levels and age groups. Wanting to continue her love of coaching when she moved to Granite Bay 3 years ago, she was lucky enough to join the coaching staff at the Johnson Ranch Barracudas.
