Andy is an energetic coach and swimmer with a life long love of the sport. He spent his early years swimming in the Bay Area and still holds the High School Section record at Monta Vista High School and was his team's MVP and Team Captain. He went on to earn a MVP and Team Captain position at De Anza Community College. Currently, he swims with a local master's group and routinely competes in local meets, national championship meets, and international competitions. Andy and his wife raised 3 successful High School and Collegiate swimmers. Swimming is in Andy's blood.
Andy coached the Orangevale Tigersharks, and under his leadership, the Tigersharks completed a successful 2019 season as champions in their swim league. Andy is also the Head Varsity Swim Coach at Oakmont High School and the Assistant Coach for the Rocklin Aquatics Masters SwimTeam. Andy was mentored and coached by Chris Breitbart (Community College Coach of the Year) and Larry Rogers (National High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year). The Barracudas look forward to a successful future ahead with Coach Andy bringing his skills to the Barracudas pool deck to grow and strengthen our team.
Joan started as an Age Group swimmer at age 7 and continued through the National level with the De Anza Swim Club in Cupertino, CA. She continued swimming in college on a swimming scholarship at the University of Miami, Florida. During summers she taught swim lessons at all levels and coached at the Cupertino Hills Swim and Racquet Club and The Santa Clara Swim Club. Joan took a long hiatus from coaching to pursue high tech career at HP (22 years) and start a family. She returned to coaching with QuickSilver Swimming in San Jose, CA where she spent 10 years working with all levels and age groups. Wanting to continue her love of coaching when she moved to Granite Bay 3 years ago, she was lucky enough to join the coaching staff at the Johnson Ranch Barracudas.
Coach Taylor M.
Hi! I'm Taylor McMullen. I grew up in Southern California where I began swimming on a club team at the age of 6. I swam competively for 10 years before committing to play volleyball at the college level. I currently swim with a Master's Team in Rocklin. I am in my third year of teaching at the elementary level in Roseville. I can't wait to be a part of your child's journey with the Barracudas!!
Coach Taylor O.
Coach Taylor O. will be with us through the summer months.
This will be Coach Taylor's 2nd Season with the Barracudas. She was born and raised in Laguna Niguel, where she started swimming in 2nd grade. She swam for Dolphin Aquatics year round until 8th grade. From there, she swam for the Varsity Team at Aliso Niguel High School & continued swimming while at Junior College. Taylor’s favorite swim strokes are Freestyle and Backstroke. The most meaningful mentors in her life are her parents. She said they both ground & propel her in life. Taylor has been teaching swim to children for the past 14 years and you can find her swimming, biking, and running in triathlons alongside her husband. Currently, she works as a Curriculum Director for an afterschool enrichment program in Roseville, teaches private swim lessons, and is excited to be back on our pool deck coaching this season.
Coach Paige will be joining us in May
Hello! My name is Paige Tattersall and this is my first year coaching with the Barracudas. I just wrapped up my freshman year at Pepperdine University where I am a part of the Women’s Division 1 Swim and Dive Team. I have swam since I was 5 years old and started here at Johnson Ranch! I was a part of this team until my sophomore year in high school when I joined the competitive year-round team, the Sierra Marlins out of Folsom. I went to Granite Bay High School where I was a scholar-athlete all 4 years and a part of the varsity swim team for 3 years and went to the state championship in my junior and senior seasons. Granite Bay women’s swimming has claimed the league title for 23 continuous years! My specialty events were and continue to be the 200 and 500 freestyle. I am currently studying education at Pepperdine where I am working towards my degree in liberal arts and my multiple subject credential with hopes of being an elementary school teacher. I can’t wait to be a part of the Barracudas again and work with all of you amazing and talented young kids!
Coach Bre will be working with Levels 1 & 2 during our Spring Months
When I was 6 years old, I remember begging my mom to let me try out for the local swim team. I was relentless and finally she gave in--she took me down to Serra High School in San Mateo and let me try out. I was horrible! But I loved it and immediately joined the team, and I've been swimming competitively ever since. I swam for Loyola Marymount University (distance free and fly). I have been teaching swim lessons or coaching since high school and love challenging swimmers and watching them improve. I met my husband in the pool and we have done Trans Tahoe several times. I love running and also qualified for the Boston Marathon, which I ran last year. I think swimming is the best sport and I am glad to have the opportunity to work with the Barracudas. I have a son, Bruce, and daughter, Brenna, who will be Barracudas in a couple years!
Coach Rosie will be working with Levels 1 & 2
Hi, I’m Rosie, a long time member of Spare Time clubs and a former swim team mom from many years ago (kids are now 31 and 28). Since retiring from a 28-year career as a police officer, I’ve spent my time training for Ironman triathlons, giving swim lessons to the littles at the club, and also coaching for Girls on the Run. My hubby and I love to travel and are actively checking off destinations on our bucket list. Looking forward to helping out on deck and having a fun swim season!
