Parent Requirements

Parent Requirements

It takes many hands to run a successful swim meet.  You (yes, parents!) are part of the team! Parents are expected to work at least one half of each meet, in some capacity, in order for the meet to run smoothly. Meet Worker Assignments include:  Referee, Starter, Stroke and Turn Judge, Head Timer, Timers, Clerk of the Course Workers, Card Runners, Scoring, Data Entry, Data Checker, Ribbons Workers, and Concession Workers.

Parent participation is so vital to a successful meet that failure to fulfill your obligation, unless arranged with a Board Member PRIOR to your absence, will result in a fine and the inablity for your swimmer(s) to participate in the meet following your no-show.

Starting in Summer of 2017, The Barracudas have set a goal of having at least one family member per family attend RSL training and be available to work during the swim meets.  Our team size has changed over the years and, recently, we have found ourselves in a position of not having enough trained meet workers.  This is the reason that we are asking each family to send one parent or grandparent to training and to be available to work during the meets.  If everyone does their part, we will have plenty of trained meet workers and this will make meets much easier in the long run!   When everyone pitches in to help, no one is left doing the majority of the work.  Training is easy and there is nothing particularly difficult about any position.  If you have not yet done so, please contact Tracy Harrington to schedule your training selection.

Thank you!
