2018 RSL American Division Championships

SPOTSYLVANIA YMCA – 25 Meters, 8 Lanes Spotsylvania Family YMCA 5700 Smith Station Road Fredericksburg, VA 22407

Directions:From North – I-95 to exit 126 Massaponax/Spotsylvania; South on Rt. 1(bear to the right); at the 5th light take a right onto Spotsylvania Parkway (there is a stone waterfall up a short distance on right); go 2 miles; take a left at light onto Smith Station Rd; go 1 mile the Y is on the right.

From the South – I-95 to exit 118 Thornburg; take a left onto Morris Rd; take a right at traffic light onto Rt. 1 North; go several miles through light at Massaponax High School; take a left at the next light onto Massaponax Church Rd; go 1 mile; take a right onto Smith Station Rd; go 1⁄4 mile; the Y is on the left next to Parkside Elementary School.

From the West – Rt 3 East to a right on Gordon Rd; follow Gordon past Salem Fields Food Lion; take a left onto Smith Station Rd; follow Smith Station across Courthouse Rd; go 2 miles; take a right at light to continue on Smith Station; go 1 mile the Y is on the right.

From the East – Rt 3 West to the bypass (at Ferry Farm area); take the bypass to Rt 1 South; follow to Courthouse Rd (Hardee’s is on right); take a right onto Courthouse Rd; at the 5th light take a left onto Leavells Rd; follow this through the light (road changes to Smith Station); continue 1 mile; the Y is on the right

Parking: ➢ The YMCA has requested that we DO NOT PARK IN ANY SPACES THAT ARE IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING. THESE MUST BE RESERVED FOR THE YMCA MEMBERS. ➢ If you have a parking pass for the RSL area (small lot to left of the building – pool side), be sure it is displayed in the front window of your car. The lot closest to the pool will be reserved for RSL parking passes only. ➢ There is more parking at Parkside Elementary School.

Safety Marshals: Each team provides a safety marshal during each of their warm up periods. Equipment: Each team should provide their own stopwatches, clipboards, pencils for their timers. Each team should bring DQ slips, clipboards, and pens/pencils for Stroke & Turn, Referees, and Starter. *Recommend teams label all their equipment

General Timeline

The YMCA should be open at 6:00 AM on Saturday morning

Morning Meet Session Starts at 8:00 AM events 1-24

8:15 – Approx. 10:30 – First Session

10:30 – 11:30 Warm Ups, Second Session (This is a no earlier than start time and will depend on the end of the first session. We will adjust the timeline accordingly. Each team will get 20 minutes to warm up.

11:45 – 2:00 – 1st Half of Second Session

2:00-ish – Approx. 4:00 Half of Second Session

 

Afternoon Meet Session Starts promptly at 11:45 AM Events 25-44 (First Half Afternoon) Events 43-66 (Second Half Afternoon)

It is the responsibility of each team to make sure that Volunteers arrive on time to their assigned positions.

Information

  1. The gym will be divided up for each team. Please respect the Y property and keep your area clean and damage free

  2. We will have an information table in the gym. Should any problems or questions arise, please come to that table and someone will assist you.

  3. Please wipe up any spills promptly.

  4. NO CHAIRS ARE ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK

  5. You may hang posters and banners in your team area. Please do not leave tape or marking on walls.

  6. NO FOOD OR DRINKS are allowed in the pool area.

  7. There will be bleachers set up in the pool area. These bleachers are to be used only to watch your children swim. Please do not plan on staying all day in the bleachers. You will be asked to move to make room for others who are coming in to watch their children swim.

  8. Announcements will be made in the gym. Please pay attention and have your swimmer to clerk on time with their event, heat, and lane number.

  9. The bathrooms in the locker rooms are there for you to use. The bathroom in the lobby will be off limits to swimmers and their guests.

  10. First aid will be handled by the life guards. Please report to the life guard office in the pool area if any needs arise.

  11. Each team is responsible for their own trash and taking all full trash bags to the dumpster. Extra bags will be available.

  12. The coaches will clerk their own relays. Relays will NOT go through the Clerk of Course.

  13. In the event of thunder and lightning all people are asked to immediately clear the pool deck and go to your team area in the gym.

  14. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including cell phones, is not permitted in the changing areas, restrooms or locker rooms.

  15. Photography behind the blocks is not permitted.

  16. Concessions will be in the gym.

  17. Scoring will be in the lobby. Please note: No children or unassigned parents will be allowed in this area.

 

OVERVIEW

The meet is broken into two halves (with 3 worker’s sessions).  First half will start at promptly 8:00 a.m. and includes all events for swimmers 10 and under (events 1-24).  The second half will begin at approximately 11:20 am and will include the graduated relays, 12 & under IM, 12 & under Medley Relay, and 12 & under 100 Free (events 25-36).  After that all the 11-12 and older events will take place (events 37-68).  The complete event list is at the bottom of the page and will be in the heat sheet books available at the meet.

There are two halves to the meet, but three worker's sessions. The first session includes all events in the first half (events 1-24). The second session is events 25-44 and the third session is events 45-68.

VOLUNTEERS

Please check the meet workers schedule tab under Parents and Guardians tab to see if you are scheduled to work.  Volunteers, please check in at the volunteer station located at the spectator entrance. First session workers, check in by 7:10 am. Second and third session workers by 10:30 am.

SWIMMERS

10 & under swimmers please be at the pool no later than 6:30 a.m.

11 & older swimmers please be at the pool no later than 10:00 a.m.

 

FINALS SCORING

The event entries shall be divided into 3 groups designated A, B, and C.

 In scored individual events, points will be given to the 6 competitors who achieve the fastest times in each of the A, B, and C groupings.

 Points awarded for 1st through 6th places will be: 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, respectively.  Awards will be given to the 6 competitors who achieve the fastest times in each of the A, B, and C groupings.

 In scored relay events, points will be given to the 6 teams who achieve the fastest times.

 Points awarded for 1st through 6th place will be: 14, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2, respectively.  Awards will be given to the 6 teams who achieve the fastest times.
