Minnows is Potomac's pre-team program. In order to join Minnows, a child must be able to put his or her face and ears in the water, unassisted for 5 seconds. The program is for children ages 3-8 and has two different levels. The first level is a beginner level where coaches and swimmers will stay in the shallow end learning basic skills, intro to freestyle & backstroke, and getting used to the water. The second level is an advanced level where coaches and swimmers will be in the deep end practicing freestyle, backstroke, and some breaststroke and butterfly.
Our goal is to make sure that these young swimmers associate swimming with FUN! The goal by the end of the season is to get swimmers to swim a length of the pool unassisted, participate in a few B meets on Wednesday evenings and eventually the famed lollipop meet at the end of the season!
