Spring 2021 Email (instead of a Spring Meeting)
Hello Royals Families,
We are thrilled to announce the return of Kingsgate Royals Swim Team for 2021! In lieu of a formal Spring Meeting, we are sending this year’s announcements via email along with the attached flyer to send to families/friends who may be interested and want to know more about the upcoming season.
For those who are new to KGR, the swim team is for anyone 5 – 18 years old who can swim the length of the pool. It is very important that your child is capable of swimming one length of the pool without assistance as COVID restrictions will not allow us to have older swimmers in the pool helping the little ones as we have traditionally done in past years.
We are thrilled to announce that Coach Maddie Ulvin will be returning for her second summer as a KGR coach. Maddie is a sophomore at UW studying environmental studies. We are also happy to welcome Michael Cunningham to his first year on the coaching staff. Michael is also a sophomore at UW studying neuroscience and biology. Both Maddy and Michael grew up swimming for KGR and we are excited to have them continue their legacy with the team in their coaching roles.
Practices are scheduled to commence Monday 5/24
Evening practices will be held 5/24 – 6/18 as follows:
8 & U 6:00 – 6:30pm
9 – 12 6:30 – 7:15pm
13 & O 7:15 – 8:00pm
Morning practices will be held 6/21 – 7/23 as follows:
13 & O 7:00 – 7:55am
11 – 14 7:55 – 8:45am
9 – 10 8:45 – 9:30am
8 & U 9:30 – 10:00am
It is our goal to have kids in the pool for the duration of the scheduled practice time. KGR will adhere to all COVID policy and restrictions set forth by the state, county and CDC—if there is a day where the number of swimmers exceeds capacity, we will separate the practice with a mix of swimming and dryland exercises. Consequently, swimmers are requested to arrive to practice already wearing a swim suit (thereby limiting all locker room use for restroom purposes only) and have a spare set of clothes and shoes in the event dryland exercise is required. Swimmers must also wear masks at all times while on the pool deck or park grounds, unless they are about to enter the water.
As we get closer to the start of practice 5/24 and have a better idea of COVID restrictions, we will provide a detailed protocol for practice logistics, swimmer drop off/pick-up, etc. It is unlikely that parents will be able to sit poolside during practice.
*Practice schedule by age group is subject to change in the event we need to redistribute swimmers based upon registration results.
It is the goal of Midlakes to host in-person dual meets assuming this can be done under the compliance of all COVID-related policy. In the event in-person dual meets will not be feasible, virtual swim meets against other Division 3 teams will be the default solution. This scenario would allow KGR to have our own meet of Royals-only swimmers at our Kingsgate pool and we would compare and score the best times against the opposing team who would be swimming from their respective pool.
Dual meets are currently scheduled to be held Tuesdays and Thursdays commencing June 22. Division championships are scheduled for July 24th and league championship meets are TBD at this time.
Swimmer registration will open Wednesday 4/21 and close Saturday 5/15.
Registration dues are as follows:
HOA and HOA Guest Members Swim-Team Only Member
1-2 Swimmers $165.00/EA $240.00/EA
3+ Swimmers $165.00/Swimmers 1 + 2 $240.00/Swimmers 1 + 2
+ $115.00/Each Additional Sibling + $115.00/Each Additional Sibling

We are offering an online store for apparel this year. Please visit the following link: https://royalsswim2021.itemorder.com. Apparel can be ordered through 6/4 at which point the store will be closed and all team items will be shipped. Apparel would arrive just before the first scheduled dual meet.
Volunteer requirements will be determined as we get closer to the start of the season and have a better idea of how meets will be run.
We will do our best to incorporate as many social events as we can to keep with KGR tradition. As of now, with current COVID restrictions in place, we cannot commit to any events at this time. TBD.
We know this is a lot of information for one email. The KGR Swim Board and I will gladly host a Zoom meeting for any Q&A at 7pm Sunday May 2nd. A link will be sent the day of the meeting.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email. Please feel free to email with questions—we will post FAQ on the Team Unify website.
In order to make this season as normal and successful as possible for the kids, we just ask for your flexibility and support as we navigate through an unprecedented swim season.
Thank you again and Go Royals!
