Head Coach - Angie Lopez  (swimcoachangie@gmail.com)

The Carmichael Beavers are pleased to announce the addition of a new head coach, Angie Lopez!  After being interviewed by the board, along with Assistant Coach Karinah Hazewood, the board unanimously voted to offer Coach Angie the head coaching position and she has graciously accepted.  Coach Angie comes to us with a wealth of experience being both a head coach and assistant coach for several local swim teams over the past 14 years at both the high school and recreational levels.  Currently, Coach Angie is a math teacher at Grant High School, where she is also the head coach of their swim team.  She will be balancing those positions with her commitment and excitement to join the Beavers.   Coach Angie loves the sport of swimming and views her position of coaching as an opportunity to be paid to do a hobby she loves.  Similar to Coach Robert, she comes with the philosophy of teaching technique over speed, recognizing that as a swimmer learns the correct stroke, the speed will come.  She comes with an eagerness to let all swimmers know that they are valued and that the coaches will be paying attention to everyone, both in practice and at meets.  She comes highly recommended and we on the board feel blessed to have found such a qualified and experienced coach to guide our team in the upcoming season.  Please be sure to offer Coach Angie a warm welcome to the Beaver team when you see her on the pool deck.

Assistant Coach - Karinah Hazewood

I am Coach Karinah (aka Nina), and this is my fourth year coaching for the Carmichael Beavers Swim Team. I have swam for many recreational teams since I was thirteen years old. I joined the Beavers in the summer of 2012. I graduated June 2, 2014 and attend Sierra College where I will continue swimming and will play water polo.  I have enjoyed working with children through internships and volunteer work at preschools and local churches. I have experience teaching as well as communicating with both children and parents. I had a blast coaching for the Beavers last year; watching and helping our team grow as swimmers was extremely fulfilling and exciting. I feel so blessed to be a part of that again this year!
