Riptide Award Standings--Week 7
I’m excited to announce a new competition for our swimmers this season. We have divided the Riptides into 20 smaller teams of 10 swimmers each. There were a couple of teams that had only nine, so a ‘mystery swimmer’ on the team was selected as their 10th member, giving every team the same number of swimmers. This mystery swimmer was selected at random amongst the members of the team. We wanted to build some team unity and have fun while doing it. The teams contain a combination of the different age groups from the oldest (15-18) to our youngest (LR), with the idea that ALL team members have a chance to contribute to their team’s point total. Our goal is that the swimmers on the same team will get to know each other and help cheer each other on. The only things you have to do are sign-up for and participate in our meets. Teams will earn points based upon individual results each week from placing at our dual meets (1st – 6th place), and also have a chance to earn points from our special focus each week. The ways to earn additional points toward your team’s total are:
The 20 teams can be found in the link of current standings. They are arranged from oldest age groups to youngest age groups. There will be a prize/award (TBA) for every swimmer on the overall champion team for the season. We will also be recognizing the weekly winners each week. The weekly winners will be giving a kickboard to use for the week. The swimmers are to sign their name on the kickboard and bring it to practice as well. We will collect them on Thursday each week and present them to the weekly winners on Awards day. This is a great way to have fun and get to know some of your teammates in other age groups. Best of luck to our teams and let's have some fun.
