Swim Meet Job Descriptions

Announcer 
Announces all general and swim events for the meet. Organizes and announces the Star Spangled Banner.

Clerk of Course
Overlooks all aspects of lining up and organizing swimmers for events and heats. After job check-in, reports to Clerk of Course Parent Chair for assignment.

Concessions
Sell food and drink to home and visiting teams. Specific areas of concessions will be assigned and emailed to you prior to the meet. First shift includes setup and second shift includes clean-up.

Concessions (Grill)
Manage the grill and preparation of specific food items. Must be comfortable with cooking on the grill and ensuring proper food quality and temperature in order to sign up for this job slot. First shift includes setup and second shift includes clean-up.

Concessions - Shopper 1 (Before Meet)
Pick up bulk food orders and deliver to meets. Requires: vehicle space, fridge/freezer and a large purchase to personal credit card but a quick reimbursement via Zelle. Reports to and shops as directed by the Concessions parent chair.

Concessions - Shopper 2 (Day of Meet)
Pick up bulk food orders and deliver to meets. Requires: vehicle space, fridge/freezer and a large purchase to personal credit card but a quick reimbursement via Zelle. Reports to and shops as directed by the Concessions parent chair.

General Pool
On-call to work any swim meet job (if and when needed).

Heat Winner
Carefully watch event finishes to distribute heat winner cards to each heat's winner. Must be on deck for every event during the meet. (Heat winner cards are distributed only to age groups 12 and under.) After job check-in, report to Head Timer and attend timers meeting.

Meet Set-Up and Take-Down
Set up of ropes, stanchions, bleachers, tents, starter, podium, bullpen, flags, lane lines.  Take down at the conclusion of the swim meet.  Arrive 90 minutes before meet start and must stay after the meet until all take-down procedures are completed.

Official – Referee (requires Officials training and significant meet experience)
Run the meet events, update event counter, lead pre-meet Officials' meeting, judge starts/turns, ensure on time start.  

Official – Back-Up (requires Officials training)
Provides relief for Stroke and Turn officials.

Official – Starter (requires Officials training and significant meet experience)
Works the light/buzzer to start events.  

Official – Stroke (requires Officials training)
Watches swimmers for stroke violations.

Official – Turn (requires Officials training)
Watches swimmers for turn violations.

Parking Lot Attendant / Hospitality
Responsible for prohibiting vehicle entry into parking lot (with the exception of parking lot sponsors) from 4:00-6:00pm for evening meets and 7:00-9:00am for morning meets. Upon completing parking lot shift, reports to concessions to work hospitality for the remainder of the meet to assist with serving snacks and water to Coaches, Timers, Scoring and Officials periodically throughout the meet.

Pool Deck Marshal
Assigned a location to monitor incoming traffic to the deck area (as indicated on the home meet map).  Only coaches, swimmers, meet officials and meet workers (identified with name tags) are allowed in the deck area. Parents/spectators are not allowed in the deck area. Marshal job begins at the start of meet warm-ups.

Runners
Circulates around the pool deck to collect timesheets from timers and disqualification cards from Meet Officials to turn in to the scoring table. After job check-in, report to Head Timer and attend timers meeting.

Scoring 
Assists in entering and/or checking times as they are received from timesheets and the meet software. After job check-in, report to scoring table at the start of the meet.

Timer
Stands at an assigned lane and uses a stopwatch to record swimmers' times for each heat for every event. After job check-in, report to the Head Timer and required to attend timers meeting.

Backup Timer
Stands at an assigned lanes and uses a stopwatch to record swimmers' times for each heat for every event (as backup). After job check-in, report to the Head Timer and required to attend timers meeting.

Relief Timer
Must be readily available to relieve lane timers and backup timers for short breaks. After job check-in, report to the Head Timer and required to attend timers meeting.
