Clerk of Course Instructions

General:

You will be assigned to a certain age group and gender. They are listed below:

1. Under 6 Girls

2. Under 6 boys

3. 7/8 Girls

4. 7/8 Boys

5. 9/10 Girls

6. 9/10 Boys

You will be given a “heat sheet” by either Jennifer Jansen or Sarah Hoag. This sheet is a several page document which lists all of the events and the swimmers in each event.

You will need to line up your group about 7-10 events prior to the start of their event. Look at the number cards located by the pool to see what event is currently taking place. Keep in mind that you might need to find some of the kids in the bullpen (or somewhere else) so don’t wait until the last minute to start lining up. So for example, if you are lining up event #14, you need to start looking for them close to the start of the swim meet. If you are lining up event #45, you need to start thinking about it when event #35 is showing on the cards.

You will need to line up the kids by LANE, not by heat. This will make it easier when you take them to line up at the lane lines. Look at the flags to see which lane is which (i.e. which lane is #1 and which is #6). And ask the kids around you what event they are swimming so you get your kids in the right order.

· When the last event is complete for your age group assignment, you are done with your job!

· See next pages for details about your specific age group.

Under 6 Girls

Events

# 13 (6 and under freestyle)

# 45 (6 and under backstroke)

 How to line up:

Lets take Event #13 as an example (Girls 6 and under 25 yard freestyle). The heat sheet is listed by heat, then by lane. Normally, the heat sheet will only list our swimmers (COM). For this example for bench #1, you would put Marcus first in line, followed by Majcher, followed by Barz. On bench #3, you would put Zhou first, followed by Osepek, followed by Terlep. On bench #5, you would put Brown first, followed by Peng, followed by Konrad. When it is time to walk them up to the lanes, you take Bench #1 first(Lane #1) and line them up in the lane, followed by Bench #3(Lane #3), followed by Bench #5(Lane #5). 6 and under kids usually aren’t real good about staying in the right order so you should stay with them until they get up to the blocks.

Heat Sheet Example:

#13 Girls 6 & Under 25 yard freestyle

Heat 1 of 3

1 Marcus (COM)
