The Palma Ceia Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Palma Ceia Swim Team to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Dolphin Group

This is our entry level group after our swim lesson program. The Dolphin group will work on their technique in all four strokes and starts. The goal of this group is improve and move on in the future to the Dolphin Group.

Age Group I

From the Dolphin group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus mainly on learning four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique.  The Age Group I is designed as a transition group from the Dolphin group. The goal of this group is improve and move on in the future to the Age Group II.

Age Group II

From the Age Group I group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 9 years old and have completed the Age Group I move-up skills. This group is exposed to training more distance for the longer events and competing in the 200 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley races. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged.

Junior Team Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 10 years old. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in the athlete’s development. Athletes in this group train for the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyle.  Dry land training will be included four days of the week.

Senior Team Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 12 (girls) or 13 (boys). Athletes entering the Senior group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Senior group are directed towards making their Junior Olympic time standards, Sectionals, or to be in the top 5 at PCL Meet. Dry land training will be included four days of the week.  Minimum training sets include:

30x100 @ 1:20
4x200IM @3:15
