Saturday "A" Meets
MCSL “A” meets are typically held on Saturday mornings, beginning at 9:00 A.M. We will be swimming against other teams in the in the “N” division. Meets have 50 events and run approximately 2.5 hours. “Saturday” meets are for the fastest 3 swimmers in each event (top 6 swimmers for 12 & under freestyle). A swimmer can swim a maximum of 3 events of individual strokes (free, back, breast, or butterfly), and either two relays or an IM and a relay or 2 relays, IM, and 2 individual events. Age groups in “A” meets are 8&U, 9&10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18. Ribbons are awarded to each swimmer. Place Ribbons are awarded for swimmers who finish in positions 1-6 and participant ribbons for places over 6th.
The determination of who swims in the “Saturday” meet is a dynamic process. In general, any swimmer at a “Wednesday” meet who swims a top time will swim in the next “Saturday” meet providing his/her’s time beats the current times. Additional swimming slots may become available in “Saturday” meets if a faster swimmer is not available due to sickness or vacation. Swimmers compete in their own age group. Swimmers may be asked to "swim up" to help the team. Swimmers may not swim below their age group. Teams may enter 1 medley relay & 2 free relays in a meet.
Please read the Events -> 'A' Meet Sign Outs for details on declaring your swimmer's attendance at A Meets.
