2022 NWB DOLPHIN COACHES
HEAD COACH-BRIAN DUFOUR
Coach Brian is very excited to be returning for his second season as Dolphins’ Head Coach. He grew up swimming in the MCSL for the East Gate Gators and was an assistant coach for his 15-18 years. He swam for RMSC’s Advanced Junior, Advanced Senior, and National Training groups. As a member of the Winston Churchill Swim and Dive team, he was a four-year letter winner and Metros qualifier. After college, he was a head coach in the MCSL with Old Farm and Plantations, but having moved to Virginia, the commute became too much. He coached the NVSL’s Fairfax Frogs for 8 seasons where they reset many team records, and broke 5 league records. After 2 summers (mostly) off, then returning to the MCSL for a great season with Norbeck Hills, Brian coached his 9th and final season with the Frogs in 2019. He spent 8 years as the Mason Makos High School group coach, where he also coached High School Prep, Age Group, and Junior groups. He was Co-Head Coach of WT Woodson HS for 12 years, during which time, the team won 14 District titles, 2 Region titles, and the Men's 2020 VSHL State Championship, with numerous All- American swimmers and divers throughout the years. A strong believer in hard work, sportsmanship, and the power of a team, Coach Brian strives to emulate that which he expects in his swimmers and coaches. Some of his proudest moments as a coach were when his teams won their division’s Sportsmanship Award. He believes that practices should be challenging, yet fun, and is a firm believer that what you see at meets is the result of what you put in at practice. Brian lives in Germantown with his wife and their little girl, along with their dog and cat, Merlin and Cubby. He’s looking forward to a great season with Northwest Branch.
ASSISTANT COACH-MADDIE BRENNAN
Maddie has been a member of the dolphins for the past 11 years and always dreamed of coaching the team. She graduated from Northwood High School and the dolphins in 2021, but is excited to return to coach this year. While in high school, Maddie supported her teammates at Metros and States, as well as swimming in relays at these meets. She loves to make posters for swimmers, cheer loudly, and create intricate costumes for the meets.
Maddie completed her freshman year at the University of Maryland and will return to campus next year to study Psychology.
ASSISTANT COACH-LIAM MCDONOUGH
Liam is thrilled to be an assistant coach for the Dolphins! This will be Liam's 11th year on the team as he enters his senior year at Montgomery Blair high school. Along with the dolphins, he swims in RMSC’s National Training Group and is a 3-year varsity swimmer and Metros qualifier at Blair. Liam is a lifelong Dolphin and is super excited to give back as a coach this year.
ASSISTANT COACH-JAKE HOFFMAN
Hello everyone! I am coach Jake. I have been with the Northwest Branch Dolphins for 10 years since 2009. I am a senior at Northwood High School where I play Varsity Soccer, Swim and Lacrosse. At Northwood I have gotten the opportunity to swim at Metros and States for the last 3 years. I am so excited to have a fantastic season this year and am looking to forward to seeing everyone at the pool!
PRE-TEAM LEAD COACH - KELLY GREENLEAF
Kelly is a graduating senior at Montgomery Blair high school and has been a proud dolphin since 2010, entering her 13th and final season this summer. Along with swimming on the team each year, Kelly began teaching both group and private lessons and found a passion for coaching the younger swimmers last summer, so she’s excited to do even more this year with the return of NWB’s pre-team! Outside of Northwest Branch, Kelly has swam competitively for 5 years with RMSC and is a 4-year varsity swimmer and captain of the Blair swim team where she represented her school at Metros, Regionals, and States each year and contributed to both a regional and division win for the Blazers this past winter. Besides swimming, Kelly is also a 4-year varsity softball player and captain of Blair’s softball team. She is beyond excited to lead the baby dolphins this summer and cannot wait to get back to coaching. She hopes to see many new and returning swimmers this summer!!
