New Swimmer Info

Thanks for your interest in the Montclair Seahawks summer swim team! Families do NOT need to be Montclair residents or Montclair Country Club members to swim with the Seahawks! We welcome swimmers of all ages and abilities. Every legal swimmer can compete in the meets on Saturday mornings!

There a few steps you will need to be complete prior to joining the team.

1. Please complete the online registration process so we can keep you up to date as summer approaches. Register your swimmers before May 1 for a $20 discount on your pool fees! You may pay online with a credit card, or at tryouts - see below!

1.  New swimmers need to attend tryouts at the Montclair Country Club pool deck on May 27 from 5:00-7:00.  To be on the competitive team, swimmers must be 18 or younger on June 1; able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted; and be independent in the pool for a 30-45 minute practice.

DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM: At the coach's discretion, swimmers who are unable to swim the 25 yards unassisted may be assigned to our developmental team. Developmental team swimmers must still be independent and be able to follow coaches' instructions. The shallow end of the MCC pool is approximately 3 feet deep - the practice facilities are not appropriate for teaching non-swimmers.

2. Once coach has assigned you to the team, you can pay in person at tryouts - cash, checks, or credit card!

(Note: The pool fee in Option 2 is for the use of the Montclair Country Club’s facilities during practices/meets only.)

3.  Gary from Sportsfair will be on hand at tryouts with official Seahawks meet swimsuits and gear.

4. We'll have new family orientation for everyone new to summer swim, as well as a chance to meet the Seahawks coaches and executive board! You can also find out about becoming a swim official, as well as other volunteer and sponsorship opportunities!

4.  Finally, joining a swim team is a fun way to spend your summer.  We will have 3 home meets and 4 away meets, including the big season-ending Divisionals meet on August 1.   While practice can be fun, and we don't have any attendance requirements, the real fun is at the meets!  We understand everyone has busy schedules in the summer, so if you plan to join the team, we ask you to commit to swim at least 2 meets and Divisionals. But we're happy to have everyone for summer fun!
