The BWaves would like to recognize our 2018 Seniors. We have a big group this year and we thank them all for their dedication to the team over the years. Many of these swimmers have been with the BWaves since they were very young, so their faces should be familiar, but here's what we know about them and what's next in their lives.

Special thanks to Ginger Carroll for this video full of memories!

Biaggio began swimming when he was 8 years old and joined the BWaves four years ago as a swimmer and Jr. Coach.  His favorite memories on the team come from Tuesday morning water polo matches! He is graduating this year, but he will also plans to come back for one last season in 2019.

Biaggio will continue his education at CUE RECORDING STUDIOS as he works toward becoming certified as a Professional Musical Engineer.  His music video – yes, he sings/raps/dances/etc. – is called “Fly Away,” and can be found on YouTube and Instagram.

Daniel started swimming at 5 years old with the Kingsbrooke Sea Lion Pups program before joining their team a year later. Daniel swam year round for several years with NCAP and QDD teams during elementary and middle school years and joined the BWaves last year for the 2017 season as a swimmer and Jr. Coach.

Daniel has been an active member of Boy Scouts since 1st grade and has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  In high school, Daniel was a member of the Patriot Pioneer Marching Band for 4 years playing saxophone as well as a member of the math and social studies honor societies.

Daniel is going on to James Madison University to study Mathematics and will be a member of the Marching Royal Dukes. He plans to complete a 5-year program for a Master’s degree in education with hopes to become a high school math teacher.

Kyle is a BWave through and through. He started swimming on the team when he was 8 years old and learned how to swim, dive, and coach while coming up through the ranks.

Kyle swam for the Patriot Pioneers, lettering all four years, while managing to achieve AP scholars, Project Lead the Way, and an advanced degree with honors. Kyle has coached for the BWaves during the off-season program and the past few summer seasons. (He’s not coaching this year, but who can blame him – he’s probably exhausted).

Kyle is graduating today and in the fall, he’ll begin his freshman year at Lafayette College where he will swim as a Leopard and study Civil Engineering.

Our congrats to Kyle, who probably didn’t want any attention, but is getting it anyway.

Sydney began swimming for the Bridlewaves when she was 7 years old. She also swam with Riptide, NCAP and Battlefield High School, where she was captain this past year. Sydney swam on the Battlefield State Swim Team her junior and senior year.

At Battlefield, Sydney earned AP Scholar with Distinction and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

She was also very busy with extracurricular activities including serving as the Battlefield Air Force JROTC Group Commander, STEM Lead Mentor at Tyler Elementary, and a member of National Honor Society, Academic Bowl, CyberPatriot Team, TARC Rocketry Team, HOBY representative and Girls State Attendee.

(She is apparently GREAT at time management).

Sydney will join Christopher Newport University’s Class of 2022 and will study Cellular, Molecular, and Physiological Biology. She will be part of their Honors, Presidential Leadership and Bonner Service Scholar Programs.

Kelley is another of our Guppy Alumni and has been swimming with the BWaves since she was 6 years old (2006). Kelley has loved being a part of the coaching staff for the past 3 years.

Kelley has also enjoyed playing soccer at all different levels for the past 14 years and she played both clarinet and mellophone in the Patriot HS Marching Band.

Kelley graduated from Patriot High School with Summa Cum Laude Honors. A member of the National Honor Society, she earned an Advanced Diploma and was an AP Scholars recipient.  Kelley will be attending James Madison University in the Fall.

Kelley’s summer job is a manager at Cookies & Cream Ice Cream shop, so come visit her at the shop and get your ice cream fix!

Austin joined the BWaves in 2008 at the age of 8 and has come up through the ranks to this, his final season, swimming with the team. He has been a year-round swimmer with Occoquan Swimming since 2012.  Austin is also a member on the State Champion Patriot High School swim team where he has lettered all four years.

In October 2017, he signed a six-year contract with the U.S. Coast Guard and will start his life journey on August 21, 2018 in Cape May, New Jersey where he will endure eight weeks of basic training.  Like a good BWave, Austin chose August so he could finish out his last eligible year with the team.

Starting in November, he will undergo 13 weeks of training at the U.S. Coast Guard culinary school in Petaluma, California, where the best chefs in the world perfect their craft. (Wonder if he'll come back to cater our banquet…?)  Congrats, Austin!
