Dominion Valley Sharks Give Back
Food Drive on Picture/Donut Day!
At Picture Day 2018 our Sharks brought items to donate to the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry. In years past Sharks brought boxes of cereal. This year the pantry requested items children need in the summer months when they are not in school, such as canned ravioli and boxed mac-n-cheese. We delivered 104 pounds of food.
Pennies for the Pantry
To continue our support of the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry, swim team families participated in a hugely successful "Pennies for the Pantry" campaign. With the addition of the money raised the 2018 season, more in bills than coins, we have now raised over $1,350. Thank you to everyone who participated and all the work Janette Nash did in previous summers to promote the campaign. We look forward to helping the food pantry in the future.
Can at the Curb!
"Can at the Curb!" is a food drive community service to help support the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry. Food donations are dropped off by team members, visiting team members, friends and family. In 2014 the Sharks collected over 2,539 cans to donate to the Haymarket Food Pantry. In addition several team members volunteered at the pantry helping sort and distribute food. To learn about volunteering at the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry, please visit the organization's website.
To date, the Sharks have donated over $2,400 dollars to the American Heart Association and the Autism Society of Northern VA as a result of the Sharkbite 300 Triathlons that we've organized over past summers.
