The Polliwog program is designed for beginning swimmers who are at least 4 years old by June 15, are water safe, able to put their face in the water, able to swim approximately three feet from the side of the pool without the assistance of a coach, and who are willing to swim for all of the coaches. This is a skill-building program to augment individual swim lessons.  This program is designed for group instruction with a ratio of five kids to one coach. The first day of practice the kids will be asked to swim for the coaches to insure that they are water safe.

The Polliwog program runs from the second Monday in June to the third Saturday in July. Practices will be from 12 pm until 12:30 pm on weekdays except for Wednesday.

At the last home swim meet, the Polliwogs will have their "graduation" where they will swim the length of the pool as in an actual event with the whole team looking on and cheering. Participation awards will be presented to the Polliwogs during their last practice.

On occasion, a coach may make the determination that a Polliwog swimmer's skills are adequate enough to join the 6 and under age group of the swim team. If this happens within the first two weeks of the Polliwog program, the swimmer's family will be asked to pay fees commensurate with their time on the swim team. They may also be asked to fulfill jobs as seen fit by the jobs coordinator.  Regardless of when a polliwog moves up, if they swim at City Meet, Conference Meet or a special meet such as Dewing Derby or Sugarloaf Cup, the family is obligated to meet the job requirement(s) for that meet.
