RCSL Championships


CHAMPIONSHIPS JULY 26 - 29, 2018!!

Our summer season culminates with a large league-wide championships meet at Cecil Field Aquatic Center.  It is a four-day event and is a LOT of fun for the kids and for our families.  It’s also a fast pool (this means that the kids usually get better times than they do during the regular season).  Details will be posted here, once we get closer to champs.

Note: Swimmers need to participate in THREE regular season meets in order to participate in champs.


Thursday, July 26: ages 6 and under:  25 Free, 25 back, 25 kick-board  

Friday, July 27ages 7-18:  Butterfly (11 & Ups only) & IM ages 7-18 (Warm-ups: 3:00 pm & start at 4:30 pm)

Saturday, July 28 morning: Ages 11-18:  Back, Short Free & Breast (Warm-ups: 7:30 am & start at 8:30 am)

Saturday, July 28 afternoonAges 8 & Under and 10 & Under:  Back, Short Free, Breast & Butterfly (Warm-ups noon & start at 1:00 pm)

Sunday, July 29th: Ages 7-18:  Long Free, Medley Relay & Free Relay  (Warm-ups: 7:30 am & start at 9:00 am)      

The biggest meet of our season is the summer-ending RCSL Championship Meet. One of the largest swim meets held in the entire country each year, the League estimates that almost 2,000 swimmers will compete for the coveted Team Championship trophy.  They begin on Thursday evening with the 6 & Under Championships session and run Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday for all of the other age groups – 8 & Under (except those who choose to compete in the 6 & Under Championships), 9 & 10, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, 15 & 16, 17 & 18.

The 6 & Under session is set up to run in about 2-1/2 to 3 hours on that Thursday evening and for these newcomers to our sport to have an enjoyable “taste” of what the big Championship meet is like.  The awards for the 6 & Unders include medals for the 16 places while the awards at Championships included team trophies, medals for “A” times and “B” times and the fastest sixteen “C” times.  Each child will also receive a RCSL participation pin as well.

Like the dual meets, you will have the opportunity to sign your swimmers up for this meet starting in late June.  In addition to requiring swimmers to be registered with the League through their team, swimmers must compete in three (3) dual meets during the season and swim an event at least one during those meets to be eligible to compete in the Championship meet each season. 

Also, like the dual meets, we will be assigned several “jobs” to perform at all the sessions of the meet.  We will have the online registration system set-up for you to use to volunteer once we have our assignments (usually around July 10th).  We need every family attending to volunteer for at least one job at one session during the meet.
