HADDONTOWNE SWIM CLUB

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The following rules have been established by the Haddontowne Swim Club (“HSC”) to assure the safe and sanitary operation of the HSC property and all of its facilities (the “Club”) and for the safety of its member families and their guests. 

THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS MAY BE REVISED, OR ADDITIONAL RULES ESTABLISHED, BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AT ANY TIME WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE.

The Pool Manager (or in his/her absence, the manager on duty) and/or any board member of the Board of Trustees has full authority to enforce these Rules and Regulations (the “Rules”).

Any member families (“Members”) are required to familiarize themselves, and their children and/or guests, with the Rules and to caution their children and/or guests to obey them and all directions of the lifeguards, Club management, and staff. Failure to comply with the Rules may be considered sufficient cause for suspension of membership privileges without refund for any monies paid.

HSC provides electronic access to the Rules on its website (www.haddontowneswimclub.com) and all Members are required to familiarize themselves, their family members, and their guests with the details of the Rules.  Before Members are permitted to enter the Club for the first time each season each Member family must  sign and date a Rules and Regulation Acknowledgement Form and to surrender same to club in either paper or electronic form.  No Member family or guest will be permitted access to the Club unless the Rules and Regulation Acknowledgement Form has been signed.

ALL MEMBERS, GUESTS, AND VISITORS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, USE THE CLUB AT THEIR OWN RISK.   THE CLUB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES OF ANY KIND.

ALL QUESTIONS CONCERNING THESE RULES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE MANAGER ON DUTY.   Additionally, all grievances concerning these Rules should be submitted to the Board of Trustees in writing for discussion and possible revision.

I. POOL OPERATIONS

A. Pool Manager - The Pool Manager is in charge of the Club and is charged with the enforcement of all Rules and is empowered to make decisions concerning disciplinary actions under the direction of the Board.  In his or her absence, the Assistant Manager(s) assume these responsibilities.

B. Hours of Operation

1. The Board of Trustees will determine the opening and closing dates of the Club using its discretion. 

2. Daily pool hours can be found on the pool’s website or on the pool bulletin board.

3. The full pool is reserved for swim team use daily until noon during the swim season.

4. Designated Saturdays from 8 A.M. to 12 P.M. and designated weekday evenings (usually Wednesdays) from 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. are reserved for swim meets.  The Club will make best efforts to notify members by email or on the website of the dates of these swim meets.

5. The pool may be closed at specified times because of special events. The Club will make best efforts to notify members by email or on the website of the dates of these events.

6. The Pool Manager and/or the Board of Trustees may close the pool at any time they deem necessary for emergencies, health-related incidents inclement weather, or other reasons justifying closing the pool. The Club will make best efforts to notify members by email or on the website of these events.

C. Pool Admission

1. Check in/Check Out: All members and guests must stop and check in upon entrance to or exit from the Club. A file box of membership cards is maintained at the front desk. No person will be admitted to the Club as a member unless a membership card for that person is on file. No guests are permitted without the sponsoring member present during the length of their stay.

2. Children

(a) Children age 11 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult or designated baby-sitter.

(b) Children ages 12 and over may enter the club ground without an adult.   

(c) Baby-sitters must have a registration form on file with the Club.

(d) At the discretion of the manager on duty, a babysitter that is determined not to be watching

his/her child in question will be asked to leave the pool grounds.

3. Swimming Band Tests

  1. Slide Band (Slide Band/Shallow Portion of the Main Pool) - Swim 1 lengths of pool (freestyle stroke – arms must break the water) and tread water for 60 seconds.Children must be a minimum of 42 inches tall.  Parents must sign a Slide Release Waiver.

  2. Low Dive Band (Low Dive and Use of Well/Main Pool) – Swim 2 lengths of pool (freestyle stroke – arms must break the water) without stopping and tread water for 60 seconds, PLUS one JUMP off the diving board in the diving well.Parents must sign Slide Release Waiver.

  3. High Dive Band – (High/Low Dive and Use of Well/Main Pool) – Swim 2 lengths of pool (freestyle stroke – arms must break the water) without stopping and tread water for 60 seconds, PLUS one DIVE off the diving board in the diving well.ADDITIONALLY, parents MUST sign a High Dive Release Waiver.Please note:  Children must be a minimum of 48 inches tall AND a minimum of 8 years old to use the high dive. 

    NOTE: Manager may request retest at any time.

4. Swim Bands

(a) Swim bands must be worn at all times. Children who cannot pass the swim requirements

must use the shallow area of the main pool (with an adult) or the baby pool.

(b) There will be a charge of one dollar ($1.00) for each replacement swim band. This fee is only

for replacement of a swim band.

II. GUEST POLICY

A. All guests and visitors must be registered and accompanied by the sponsoring member at all times.

B. GUEST FEES:

(a)Regular Guests

- $5.00 per person weekdays

- $7.00 per person weekends/holidays

- A 10 pack guest pass may be purchased for $30.00.  PLEASE NOTE:  Guest cards expire at the end of the season and cannot be carried over to the next pool year.  Any unused portion is forfeited.

(b) Members 60 years or older may have one designated guest, 60 years or older, unlimited number of times at a nominal charge of $1.00 per visit.

(c) Grandparents of members will be charged $1.00 each visit, unlimited number of times. They must sign in at the main office upon each visit and will be required to identify the member.

(d)  At the discretion of the Board of Trustees guest passes may be issued. Only properly authorized

guest passes signed by Club and for the designated year will be accepted.

(e)  An individual family, without a membership, is limited to 5 visits per season on a guest membership. 

C.  PAVILION USE/RENTAL - TBD

III. SAFETY 

  1. All members and guests must stop and check in upon entrance to or exit from pool facilities.

  2. Lifeguards are present for your safety; do not talk to them while they are on duty.

  3. Always obey lifeguard instructions regarding pool rules.

  4. Congregating by the front desk, lifeguard stand, snack bar or Manager's office is prohibited

  5. No running, pushing, dunking, or rough play in the pool or pool area.

  6. The starting blocks are only to be used during swim practices and swim meets, or under the direct supervision of the swim team coach.

  7. Only one person shall be on the diving board at one time. (Follow posted rules.)

  8. No general swimming is permitted in the diving well while the diving board is in use.Additionally, the well can only be closed for general swimming by a Pool Manager/Assistant Manager or Lifeguard in 15 minute intervals.

  9. Only one person is allowed on the waterslide at a time.There is no general swimming in the roped off area where the slide exits. (Follow posted rules.)

  10. The baby pool may be used by children without a pool band and by children less than 6 years of age.Parents must be present and are responsible for their children while their children are in the baby pool area.

  11. Rafts, balls, inflatable objects, toys, masks, fins, snorkels, and swim aids are not permitted in the pool, except as permitted by the Manger.

  12. There is NO DIVING from the sides of the pool in less than 5 feet of water.

  13. No hanging or standing on the lane lines or pool divider line.

  14. Pool will be closed during an electrical storm or threat of inclement weather or at any time deemed by the manager on duty or any lifeguard to pose a safety hazard.

  15. Persons suspected of being intoxicated (drugs, alcohol or otherwise) will be asked to safely leave the pool grounds.

  16. Swim bands MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.If you are not wearing a band you will not be allowed on the slide, diving board or in the well.

  17. You must be 12 or over to enter the pool grounds without an adult.

  18. No glass objects of any kind are permitted on or around the cement deck or on any cement area on the property (including pavilions).

    I. Use of Diving Well and Boards: Only persons capable of swimming and diving are permitted to

    use the diving well and the diving boards. (Band Test for children under 12.)

    (a)The diving board is NOT to be used if the safety enclosure has not been properly installed. 

    (b) Only one person on the diving board at a time. 

    (c) After diving, go immediately to the nearest ladder and exit the pool.

    (d) Only one bounce is permitted on the diving board.

    (e) Each diver must go straight off the diving board.

    (f) Positively no running on the diving board.

    (g) Children 12 years of age & under MUST have a Dive swim band to use the diving board.

    II. Use of Slide: Only persons capable of swimming and have passed the slide band test are permitted to use the slide. (Band Test for children under the age of 12.)

    (a) Only one person on the slide at a time.  All others must wait at the bottom of the slide. 

    (b) After sliding, immediately exit the designated roped area.

    (c) Children 12 years of age & under MUST have a Slide swim band to use the slide.

    (d) Parents are NOT permitted to “catch” their children as they exit the slide.  

     

    IV. BABY POOL

    A. PLEASE NOTE, THE BABY POOL DOES NOT HAVE A LIFEGUARD ON DUTY AT ANY TIME.  ALL CHILDREN MUST BE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT.

    B. The use of the baby pool shall be limited to children under six years of age or children that have not passed their band test.

    C. CHILDREN STILL IN NEED OF DIAPERS MUST WEAR SWIM DIAPERS. Do not wash out soiled diapers in the pool.

    D. CHILDREN IN NEED OF DIAPERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE THE MAIN POOL.

     

    V. CLEANLINESS AND HEALTH

    A. Persons with skin infections, abrasions, or respiratory infections may be refused admission to the pool.

    B. All accidents resulting in injury or property damage must be reported to the pool management.

    C. Smoking is NOT prohibited in the locker rooms, lobby, pavilions or any enclosed area and will be strongly enforced.

    D. No pets are permitted on the club grounds (except on Bring Your Dog Day before the pool is drained).

    E. All trash must be placed in the containers provided.

    F. You may not enter the water if you are experiencing or recovering from diarrhea or have had any signs or symptoms of a stomach disease in the past seven days.

    G. All children should be encouraged to use the restroom before entering the water. Immediately report any “accidents” you observe in the water to the lifeguard or manager on duty.

     

    VI. CARE AND USE OF CLUB PROPERTY

    A. The cost of any property damage will be charged to the member.

    B. The club will not be responsible for loss or damage to personal property.

    C. All personal property left at the club after closing day becomes the property of the swim club.

     

    VII. PARKING LOT RULES

    A. Bicycles and skateboards will be allowed to park in designated areas outside ONLY.  Bicycles cannot be left at the club overnight

    B. All cars must proceed slowly and carefully on driveway, streets, and in the parking areas.

    C. No parking is permitted at the Club entrance or at other designated areas.

    D. Cars are not permitted to park overnight unless prior authorization is received by management or the Board.

     

    IX. LOUNGE CHAIRS/UMBRELLAS

    A. Lounge chairs placed at or adjacent to the pool aprons must be withdrawn from those areas at the close of each day.

    B. Entitlement to place a chair on or at the pool aprons arises on a first-come, first-served daily basis.

    C. Lounge Chair and Umbrellas are on a first-come, first-served basis.

     

    X. GENERAL

    A. The Pool Manager is granted authority to temporarily suspend club privileges as stated below in section XI.  The Board will be immediately notified should such an event occur.

    B. Admission will be refused to anyone under suspension.

    C. The Board may suspend any rule during special occasions.

    D. A lost and found area will be maintained.

    E. During the holding of any special or scheduled event approved by the Board of Trustees, the pool will be closed to non-participants as necessary.  Closings will be posted prior to the event, if known. A. No glass objects of any kind are permitted on or around the pool deck.

     

    XI. VIOLATIONS AND SANCTIONS

    The Board of Trustees has the final authority to sanction any Member and/or family member or guest for violation of the Rules up to and including expulsion and loss of membership without refund
