Sell or transfer membership
If you currently own a GSSC active membership, there are four methods to transfer or sell it. Each requires contact with the Membership Chair. We'd advise consulting with the Membership Chair when you begin thinking of ending your club membership.
Please note that the sale or transfer of a membership is not final until all monies have been paid. In the event that an assessment is due, whoever holds the membership on that due date would be responsible for paying it.
See the club bylaws for additional details, but the general process is outlined below.
Transfer to your child. Again, with written notice to the membership director, you can transfer your membership to your child. The child pays a $25 transfer fee to GSSC before the transfer is effective.
Offer your membership to the club to either buy outright or to sell to someone seeking membership. This is the most common method of membership sale. A telephone call or email message to the membership director is all we require to start this process. When the sale is complete, we'll send you a check for the amount that a membership currently sells for, minus any fees or dues that you owe.
If the club decides not to buy your membership and cannot sell it, then you can sell it yourself. In this case, you could sell your membership to anyone you saw fit, subject to board approval, and at any price, with the purchaser paying the $25 transfer fee to GSSC. (Note: This option is not available as long as the club has a wait list.)
If you are considering selling or transferring your membership, in all cases please contact the Membership Chair first to avoid any possible error or delay.
