We have been receiving questions from our members about the status of the pool so we wanted to provide an update. We do not have an opening date yet. As with everything, we are governed by the stay home, stay safe orders mandated by state officials. We are hoping to open construction again early May according to the latest shelter in place guidelines from Inslee. Our General Contractor is ready to pick up where they left off with the construction as soon as we can and we will move as quickly as we can to get the pool open safely. We will also work with our budget and staff (and weather) to keep the pool open as long into September as we can. That said, we are all at the mercy of what the health experts and organizations are recommending.
We’d like to thank those members who have prioritized paying your dues, we are very grateful. As a reminder, all membership dues are still required to be paid in full without refunds. We are hoping to have all dues collected by 4/15. Our club remains responsible to the bank for the membership approved remodel loan that we have taken. We continue to work with the bank to comply with all of their mandates, payments and fees for the construction that has been completed thus far. Our membership dues also pay for prior commitments, overhead, maintenance and other expenses that the pool will continue to incur as we always do throughout the closed season as well as during our open season. Our dues will also be used to help fund a large portion of the remodel and will be required for us to open the pool. We are working to keep all of you happily engaged and excited about the future of our club during this pandemic.
For those of you who participate in swim team and dive team, we are currently postponing sign ups until we have further direction from the league and how the season will run. The Greater Seattle Summer Swim League is also following local guidelines in response to COVID-19 and will continue to communicate with us in the coming weeks.
Please continue to watch your email and check social media sites for updates from us. We will continue to follow local and national safety recommendations and guidelines regarding COVID-19 and use Sharkbytes and social media to communicate with you. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, your board is working hard on your behalf.
Thank you for your continued support. We are excited to get this pandemic behind us and onto safe summer fun at our beloved pool.
